Do you know if they are still doing the weekend get together at Foxwoods in Ct that they usually do every year? It is usually on NESN in Jan.

I've gone to Winter Weekend every year since they started it and have had a great time; whether it's worth it may depend on what your expectations are. Friday night features a town hall discussion/Q&A filmed with broadcast in mind--this is after they bring out (most of) the team for introductions. Saturday pretty much has three things going at once: autograph and photo sessions*, panel discussions (formal and informal, e.g. game shows and "kids press conferences" where kids ask the players questions), and a huge ballroom with the NESN interviews, games (batting cages, base-stealing sprints, etc.), ticket sales, mascots, all kinds of stuff. Sunday there's a breakfast with Wally and some coaching drills for the kids.

* Each ticket gets you at least one player/coach/alumnus autograph and a photo with at least one more. You choose a time slot and one of 4 rooms at that time--who you will get is a mystery. Some people find this frustrating. Some folks buy extra tickets to get multiple sets of autographs/photos, which I suspect is why it sold out so quickly this year.

They originally had multiple overlapping panels during the day--last year they didn't overlap but you had to register to be guaranteed your first choice session and then you could try to get into others if they had room. This year they're holding all the sessions in the big theatre in the hopes of definitely having enough room to accommodate everyone.

For me, being immersed in baseball for a weekend in January is worth it. The game shows have been worth the price of admission alone. (Though we will definitely miss Hanley--I believe his teams were undefeated.)

There is definitely no Christmas at Fenway this year. Not public yet but it’s not happening.

Is there anybody not going who has an extra ticket? I did not know it was sold out already. I have never gone and was really planning on treating myself as an extra special Christmas present this year.

It looks like day passes are available, though they don't include the autograph/photo sessions (and they may not include the Town Hall). If you found someone who bought extra full passes to get autographs you could probably get the regular pass that would definitely include the Town Hall, but again, no autograph/photo. You pick up a packet at Foxwoods, so I'm not sure how you'd sell an admission via Stubhub. Not sure if the Sox might be holding back some passes, or whether someone here might have bought for a larger group than ends up going, or some such.

I'm sure the extra money is being redirected to Liverpool.

As it should. More growth and upside. Red Sox/mlb are somewhat tapped out and have declining fan interest/demographics over time. EPL has potential for meaningful growth over next ten years.

I wonder if FSG put both Red Sox and LFC up for sale which property would get a bigger price tag. I think Forbes estimatedSox to be worth $3b. Not sure if LFC owns Anfield, etc

Not sure if 10th man is different that full season but there was this line in my email and the letter that came to the house:

  • Your season tickets will be delivered digitally via the MLB Ballpark App and My Tickets. If you wish to receive paper tickets, you can select that option online. If you are paying with a check, please email me directly to request paper tickets, after your payment has been processed.

It said the same thing in my letter. But when I went to the My Tickets site, there was an option for paper tickets.
