Mobile. Imagine a picture of Reymond Fuentes, BP

At this point, I wanted to build a solid bench/insurance policy for my OF. Span isn't a spring chicken. Grossman is a middling player. Blackmon isn't proven. Fuentes offers me a LHH with speed, OBP skillz, and MLB-ready talent + upside. Projectionable #1 hitter who should offer plus defense in LF or CF. In 2014, he could steal a starting job or secure the pinch-running duties and defensive replacement role.

This move also allows me to continue my ROTATION OF DOOM ploy. I will be having Alexei and Bryant rotate/platoon at 3B. Alexei, Villar, and Tejada rotate at 2B/SS. Cuddy/Edwin at 1B. Edwin/Stanton at DH. Cuddy/Grossman/Blackmon/Fuentes at LF. Span/Blackmon/Fuentes at CF.

This is aimed at maximizing matchups, defensive opportunities, run scoring opportunities, and offer substantial rest to the older players while taking pressure off rookies. These guys are here to play baseball, not punch a card.

Also, having a Jedi doesn't hurt.

I'll pm Galway- Done like dinner

Didnt realise taht this would get back to me so quickly.
Going to concentrate on pitching with these next two picks.
I have a late innings man in mind and I hope he falls but Im first going to go with a long reliever and spot starter if needed

Juan Perez, BP3

Juan Perez supposedly put up 13.5 runs of defensive value in 34 games last year. How good do you have to be to put up that much defensive value in that little time? His UZR/150 was 86.3

Clearly, the only possible conclusion to draw from this information is that Juan Perez is the greatest defensive player in the history of baseball.

He can actually hit a bit too, at least from his numbers in AAA and this spring. Would be interesting to see what he could do with a full season worth of performance.

OK, just got back on, so I've been skipped but I can go ahead and make a pick right?
I'll put one up on the board in a few.

Finally a shortstop.

Dean Anna, SS

Anna is old for never being in the majors but has always hit well in the minors.  He has been old for each level but destroyed AAA last year with an OBP of .410.  Anna can play all over the field but is primarily a middle infielder.  He may get the first shot to backup Jeter with Ryan being hurt and I hope he fails miserably.

Alright, I need a backup for d'Arnaud and hell, if d'Arnaud ends up sucking this guy could get 300 abs for me.

I'll take C Nick Hundley

Decent defensive numbers and not  a bad stick for  a backup C (89 wRC+)

Ryan Sweeney, BP

Plays all three OF positions with average or above average defense.  Has a bat but has some ugly splits so he is going to be a platoon guy going forward.  He's only 29.

Not much power but plays multiple positions with decent defensive skill.

Lets keep it rolling

Nate McLouth, BP

McLouth will add to the versatility of my outfield.  The plan is to have him platoon with Sanchez by moving Kalhoun to first against righties.  McLouth has a career wRC+ of 109 against righties adds a little speed to the lineup.

Drew Pomeranz, RP4 (SP6)

I'm going post-hype for a former top prospect who looks like he should be a great SP, lefty, throws in the mid-90s. Hasn't been able to put it together at the major league level yet but he did K more than 10 batters per 9 in AAA last year. I'm going to assert that his stuff will play up in the bullpen based on no evidence whatsoever.

Shit, he wasn't picked yet? I think he's going to have a nice season away from Coors.

EDIT: Not that they mean anything but his ST stats are disgusting.

I really like the McLouth pick too btw. If I hadn't wanted a RHB to pair with Joc, I would have been all over him a round ago.

I'll take the throw in from Toronto in the trade bringing John Farrell to Boston for Aviles.

RP David Carpenter

The Sox waived him before throwing a pitch and he went on to have a dominant season with Atlanta.

65.2 IP
1.78 ERA
0.99 WHIP
10.1 K/9
3.70 K/BB
3.11 xFIP

4 pitchers in the pen now
Holland
Parnell
Crain
Carpenter

not a bad group. Especially if Crain can get healthy finally.

I'll PM the next owner

Yep, I was also pretty surprised.

My picks in round 20 and 21 are way better than my picks in round 18 and 19. Shows the value of actually doing research.

Will continue to fill out the bullpen with

Robbie Ross, RP

A nice young LHP. He's been very effective as a reliever over the past couple years and at 24 should have some improvement ahead of him. He'll go straight into the pen, but I like the fact that he has some experience starting too.

Sending PM now

I'm going to be mostly out of commission for the next week or so. Death on wife's side of family. Should we find me a sub to finish out the Mad Crappers?

If not I can try and come up with a long list of players and just have someone pick someone from the list.

I like the pick but he does not throw mid-90s.  He sits at 90-91 on his fastball.  It will be interesting to see if his curveball becomes the dominant pitch is was predicted to be now that he is pitching at sea level.  He threw it almost 30% of the time pitching at Coors last year.

In the PitchFX era it would be interesting to see a study of the relative impact of Coors on pitchers with different kinds of repertoires. I imagine it's the kind of thing the Colorado front office would be paying intense attention to if they were an intelligent organization.

Mike Hampton hoped that his ground-ball tendancies would negate the thin air of Denver.

That didn't work so well for him.
(Of course, it could just be that he would have fallen off a cliff - so to speak - anyway)

Need a late inning arm and I think this guy is available. I'm hoping the move to Indians will revert him back to his Brewers form.

That seems like a lot of work from your perspective without that much benefit. I don't think it would be too hard to figure out how to put you on auto-, or to find a lurker out there to take over. I mean, unless you really want to make that list.

One easy thought would be to specify a few positions (e.g. take an OF in Round 21, SP in Round 22, or whatever) and then just agree to take the player with the highest projected WAR in 2014 on your preferred projection system.

I mean, if we're talking about replacing people, doesn't KFP head that list? 100% not trying to step on Scoops toes, he already shot that idea down but Kenny was basically skipped 4 straight times and is still waiting to make two picks. If Jaylach wants to make that list, he can send it to me and I'll do my best to keep his team going.
