Got it. I just went through the process of buying a few, and researching same.
I got three, in three different price ranges. My son, wife and I did a trip to Hilton head over Presidents Weekend in Feb.
Best - Clubglove Last Bag. This got best ratings, includes the aluminum adjustable pole with mini umbrella (the protector Rod referenced above - usually $30),
which provides protection to top of bag/clubs. $300 ish. Good amount if room for storage of shoes, clothes (also can serve as padding/protection),
Etc. I bought this for my son, who is more likely to travel more, but I used it. Worked and held up well.
2). Bag Boy hard top. $200 ish. Has a rigid top where clubs are exposed above bag, soft below that level. Good construction. My son used this, and it’s held up to flights to HH and Orlando. It’a a little less large/capacity than the other one, but cheaper. Also got rated well, but not as high as club glove. Decent storage and padding.
3). Amazon soft travel bag. We ended up not using it. About $80, was best rated of the the cheaper soft cover ones.
These bags will also have packing instructions and suggestions, including taking head off driver and storing inside your golfbag, taping other clubs together with bubble wrap around them.
We flew Delta and JB, and golf travel bags are considered/charges as a normal checked bag if they are under 50 lbs. We flew direct, which reduced chance of losing them (drove from ATL to HH).
i looked into, and you could Get a comparable price if you did three day shipping, but you’d need to wait 3 days after return to get clubs. Seems their instructions we to still used a travel bag, but I didn’t look into it further. I think if I did longer flight trip, or to Europe,
I’d look into shipsticks.
I’m sure others here have dealt with this and can share stories and advice.
