My sincere thanks to Utah State for another 29. Two games, 62 points in the books. Not a bad start.

Though I'm probably like one of those sprinters who always seems to lead the Boston Marathon pack for the first half-mile, waving his index finger at the cameras before dropping back well behind the pack.

I went conservative tonight and only wagered 4 confidence points, but Domer was in for 20. That tightens things up, 79-70 overall.

Only 5 of us are 4-0 in picks.

Down to just 4 perfect entries, and mine ain't one of 'em. Got that patented sinking feeling in the gut after Ioane's clinching INT, but fortunately I only had 6 CPs on the Huskies.

Three of us (myself included) had 30+ points on Fresno last night. That's a huge ouch.

One of the others was SMU Sox, who went against his own school. Sorry, JL...

Only 7 of 21 entries took the Mustangs, and none wagered more than 9 on the outcome.

Following SJSU's win over BGU, there's a 3-way tie at the top with 116 points: Sea Dog, SMU Sox, and dgilpin's Tickle Monster (easily my favorite team name in this contest).

A Duke win over Cinci would be huge for Sea Dog, as he's one of just two entries to pick the Blue Devils (Husky Pride is the other), and he's got 19 points on them.

I'm not exactly broken up over the UCLA loss, as only 4 entrants picked Baylor, plus most of those near me in the top half of the standings wagered far more points on the Bruins than I did.

Meanwhile Ohio's about to close out an absolute asskicking of ULM, which will tighten things up quite a bit in the points race.

After a week in Disney World I took a look at this pool for the first time in a while and immediately regretted it. I'm 20th out of 22, but actually worse than that because Realign This didn't make any picks and has a Blutarsky-like 0.0 GPA. So I'm beating only Infield Infidel.

My biggest picks are still on the board so maybe I can sneak into the top 15.

I was the only one to pick Nebraska, while 17 entries wagered at least 25 on the Dawgs. That game was always going to be a one-point bet for me regardless of who I took, but it would have been nice for the Huskers to prevent all the rest of you asshats from piling up points. The SC win helped atone for that, as 5 of the 6 closest to me in the standings had Michigan.

Sea Dog and Yammer are the only ones picking Wisconsin. SMU_Sox has 17 on Stanford and the rest of us have 24 or more, so this one won't impact the standings much.

Our group leader mabrowndog picked NIU tonight, while most others had Florida State for 20+ points. Things should be tightening up.

No doubt about it, if I blow this thing, that game will prove to be the appetizer of regret.

I have Florida for 25, but it is in my best interest for them to lose as nearly everyone in contention has them for 30 or more.

I'm in a separate pool with my fantasy league. I'm tied for the lead going into tonight but 2 guys have more points remaining. I think I need to pick an upset in order to win, these guys are pretty much Gamecock fans and SEC homers.

I adjusted my original picks, so here's what I've got right now. Any thoughts here would be appreciated.

I've got in order, and the confidence totals. I can change any pick or confidence number up to gametime.

A&M 12
PItt 29
Ark State 13
Bama 17

Standings

#1 375 with 80 possible points remaining
Me 375 with 71 possible points remaining
#3 372 with 105 possible points remaining

I originally had Ole Miss over Pitt, but switched figuring it might be my only way to gain points. Same thing with Arkansas State, I switched to them as well looking for an upset. I know its a close line. Any thoughts on A&M/OU? I figure those guys have A&M, but being a new SEC team they might not be tied to them yet.

Thanks in advance...

That's the last game, so it can be a desperation flip if I'm down after the first three.

You think my best bet is to go with favorites in the first three and then flip if needed on Bama?

So A&M, Ark St, and Ole Miss and see where I'm at on Monday?

Thats what I would do, chances a you'll all be picking the same games going into the title game but if not you'll have a chance to grab the lead that way. It will keep you in the running the longest and allow to play the final game accordingly. I could be crazy but I think ND is the best chance for an upset anyway, and if they are big SEC guys you know they will all be riding Bama. The only other game I would consider flipping is tonights game, but I dont give the Sooners much of a chance and a loss could put you out of it.

I knew I should've ranked Oregon higher up in confidence ranking, but was a bit concerned the coaching situation could become a distraction along with disappointment at the bowl selection.

Oh well I plan on making up a lot of points Monday with the big 1 I have wagered on ND

F'ing U$C and Kiffin. Always screwing with me.

That's what I'm doing...I'm not as high on ND, but its the best strategy. Thanks

I'm down 418 to 404. The leader has his 25 and 34 slots left. I've got my 13 and 29 slots left. If he plays the 34 in the Arkansas State game (doubtful) and they win, he can't lose. So my hope is we both have the same winner tomorrow and he has 34 on Bama, which will let me flip to ND and if the Irish pull it off I win. But if he wins his game where he places 34, I lose no matter what.

I know the Golson kid because he's local, and I tried to pull for ND this year due to him. But about halfway through the year I found myself hating them like usual. So I'm pulling for Bama. If they lose, I get the cash. Win/win.

Down to 5 of us who can win, and Kent State-Arkansas State may further limit it. If I can nail the last two, I will defend last year's title. I am tempted to change my pick for tonight's game -

Well, an Arkansas State win looks like a done deal right now, which would knock out me, Heep and DJ.

PW now needs to pick whatever team dgilpin doesn't -- and that's just to have a chance of winning this thing by a single point.

Why is it doubtful that he puts 34 on that game?
Because of the SEC tie, I figured he really likes Bama. Which was true, he had 29 on Ark St. I flipped my game tonight but I'm in third and I wouldn't be suprised if the guy in 2nd does the same thing. I can win if ND wins and they both have Bama.
