I didn't watch all but I'll take my "mini-hit" and "another Torkelson" and call it a day.

Congrats to those that got big pulls.

With redemption timeframes it might be my hypothetical grandkids that get it but I'll make sure they post it. Holy crap, I don't think I put that together at 3 am.

It's still crazy there was that much heat. Thank you Joe for organizing this

A really great case based on the top hits alone. Thanks for putting this together, Joe.

This is probably in the top 5% of cases they put out there in terms of return. And even then, if you were to sell the hits individually you would end up losing money. On this one you'd just come closer to breaking even. Many of these boxes are great at turning 2k into $250.

The economics of all of this suggest the only way anyone can possibly make money is to sell breaks. Which explains a lot of the state of the market, distribution, and why Fanatics is looking to get into breaking.

It's my pleasure! As for the bolded, I know of several smaller operations that opened during COVID or more recently that survive doing breaks only, so without a doubt there's opportunity there. I, myself, would of course love to be able to do live breaks as a side-gig (I mean as a living, too, but let's be real), and I do have a friend who's a HUGE collector, with money, and wants to do something more concrete, so there actually may be a bit of an opportunity for that to happen. Well see, and obviously for now I'm just gonna do what I can to host SoSH breaks. Speaking of...

It is a little sobering to think about. Just looking at Joe’s case image, the six clearly visible cards in the holder could very easily be the best card in another case if we did it again. Two top rookie parallel auto redemptions, three top flight vet autos, and a 1/1 of a great retired vet and it's a break even point.

Watching the stream there are some other really nice cards in there. The gold minted Scherzer, instavision Ohtani were both very cool

Still sorting through it all, will have more data and pics soon. Ageee completely, and I thought about all that when opening "bum" packs. At the very least, this gives us all a chance to have some baseball ripping fun at a minimal expense. I know the numbers are shit but this all still makes me feel like I'm a kid again for a couple hours at least.

For next break will be on a Sat or Sun!

Nah I get it entirely. There still isn't much like the feeling when hitting something legitimately cool. That Julio is the best card that I have hit or someone has hit for me in like 25 years. A true thrill even to watch on replay.

Thanks again for putting this together.

Just getting around to seeing this, and as I had the Rockies and Rangers I'm kind of glad I missed it.

But I'm so happy for all of you.

[Read that with whatever degree of sarcasm feels right to you.]

All the same, very generous of @JoePoulson to put in the effort.

Been there. I got the D’Backs last time we did stadium club. Best card I got was a red foil Daulton Varsho and then about 25 Varsho base. PE threw in some random stuff and homemade card displays because he felt bad for how terrible it was.

Just in case you had any un-pissed in Cheerios, PE did that for everybody.

Seriously though, thanks to @JoePoulson for the effort. I have questions about what appeared to be your 90's Ibanez, but that can wait.

To give an idea of values for the big hits, see below. It was a really good case, congrats folks, and great job Joe P.

That Julio black foil redemption recently sold for $635.00

The Mo Rivera just sold for $230.50

The most recent Machado was $139.00

The Trout is going for $350-$400

O'Neil Cruz red foil just got $158.50

The Abreu would probably get around $250 (comparable guys like Andre Dawson, Fisk, Ozzie, Will Clark, Cecil Fielder have all gone around $300)

This was the cocktail napkin math I did about coming close to breaking even. Those hits total less than the case before eBay

I don’t do any breaks aside from here. Sometimes I see breaker videos and hits posted online. And sometimes I will buy a hobby box like I did for Stadium club when it came out. Generally, I buy retail at target and rip with my son when they have it. Otherwise I just buy singles of Pedro or Ortiz or some vintage.

Am I right that if we bought a 100 cases that this is likely better than say 95 of them? It seems that way based on what I’ve seen.

This doesn’t even take into account people who buy a case, rip until they find the case hit, and then hawk the other hobby boxes.

A break like this is probably the most economically efficient way for someone to turn a profit on an $85 buy in as 6 people did. With the Jrod pulling a significant return.

No judgement on any of this stuff. Just interesting. Basically the only way you can come out ahead is if you hold , Julio becomes the next Trout (highly unlikely, an this /25 card becomes highly sought after in a sea of limited print, parallels, and rookie autos of Julio Rodriguez).

That's a pretty good distribution of autos. I know some of the names aren't exactly going to be hugely exciting but I think every dual spot got one and 19/30 teams hitting autos in a case is pretty good.

Honestly, I feel like this may have even better a better than Top 5% case. Following this one I peeked at some other SC Case Breaks and they probably had half the high end hits and the players didn't really get where this one ended (one had a Wander RC Auto Redemption, a Maddux Lone Star, a Bo Bichette Chrome Auto, and a Zito Red Auto at their biggies). Another one was "ten times better than their other case" they opened and was probably comparable with the case we had based on taste levels - a little more even but less super high end (Freeman Beam Team Auto, Torkelson and Witt RC Auto Redemption, Votto, Stott, Alonso (red), Doc Gooden). Like if we got that second case I think we should still be pretty dang happy with it. This was an absurd case.

I think the middle point about the frankencases is why Joe decided to go for the guaranteed sealed case. Too many shenanigans can go on and I think Stadium Club is kind of tough to hunt out for that as their case hits aren't necessarily the cards that are driving buys (Instavisions, Gold Minted, Beam Teams can sell decently but if you're mass opening wax for something, it's not the main driver). Like I imagine if someone had taken these boxes, they'd probably see the Mo and assume that was the big winner of the box and stop, but who knows right?

On Julio, like, you're absolutely right. Just speaking frankly I would tell someone else who got this to sell the redemption now and put that towards some sort of insane card that isn't dependent on the market moving in the way that is best to the card. I personally think Julio is already priced as if he is going to be an MVP caliber guy and while he has the talent to be absolutely insane and one of a handful of players who can be the next Trout there's so much that can go wrong. And when you get into cards of this level, the things you can get in baseball are kind of insane. With that said, I don't think I have it in my gut to immediately sell off the biggest hit I've had especially of a player who I do beleive in to be a long-term MLB star.

Awesome post, and for sure I agree we got an upper-tier case. Thankfully! I think as we continue with these breaks we'll figure out a way to make it as fair as possible, spreading the pain around evenly haha. And that's just for the standard pay model we use. I'm down for breaks where we have tiered pricing or we combine 3 teams per or anything. Seriously, let's fucking go and break everything!

Cards will be packed up and should be shipping tomorrow and/or Wednesday. I also figured out why I had no chat, it was a setting I missed of course. Next time we gonna be chatty chatty watching those hits!

I'm happy to take some excess commons, my son is starting his own binders and he tends to damage cards as he's learning to collect, so unwanted commons would definitely work for that. He's currently learning with bulk series boxes.

I don’t think there’s anything but commons in my pile, which can go to @tmracht’s son. I would be interested to know if there was anything remotely interesting, though (historical players, interesting rookies, etc).

Yay! All but two breakers have been sent out!

PLEASE let me know if there are any issues with shipping, and I promise I'll get them corrected ASAP. I don't anticipate any, but I'm a one-man team currently and a father of two young kids and just finished my fifth week of a new job (which rules and I couldn't be happier, thankfully). And am in grad school. What is sleep??? I also think I have my packing game down to a science as these 26 shipments allowed me to see how to properly ship out a break.

@NJ_Sox_Fan and @Seabass you both have multiple shipments coming because I did indeed forget to include some of your cards in the original shipments.

@tmracht my apologies but your box had to be last, and I will get that finished off and shipped out tomorrow. It's gonna weigh like 6 lbs so y'all gonna have all kinds of fun sorting!

The Julio redemption is preparing for shipment. They chose a truly weird picture for it but that it exists puts it ahead of other redemptions

Is there an ETA? Never personally submitted a redemption so this is all new to me.
I feel like we're summoning folks with the answer "NEVER" on this. But I saw that others reported their Stadium Clubs were going out so I entered the code Sunday afternoo nand got an email Monday evening they were prepping it to ship by the end of this week.

I have a couple others in there in pending so I feel like it's an indefinite amount of time til the cards/stickers are signed and then it moves reasonably quick after that.

I think I've seen a couple hit eBay recently so yea you should have yours soon! Also heard that picture they used is a photoshop job, as the OG is of him in his Dominican WBC uni? Or something? It makes no difference just random if true. It's a cool card and I think it's cool they used yet another image for his SC card autos.

The "Never" brigade, which I'm the leader of, would like to remind folks that Topps/Bowman is typically fine for redemptions.

It's Panini that completely sucks ass.

I have questions about what appeared to be your 90's Ibanez, but that can wait.
Been meaning to get back to this! It's my son's Ibanez miKro:

62034

He's 9 and it fits him perfect. Got it for him like two years ago, he's finally getting more and more into it after playing piano for a while. Dad has a Schecter C-1 Apocalypse (the satin black one) that unfortunately doesn't get played as much as he'd like. I have a daughter who turned 3 last month and loves beating on her drums. I'm hoping to have the whole family band going here in a couple years!
