Why do you keep saying even Tim Bradley? When did he become the guy to listen to? He's a novice boxing analyst. And you don't need to count punches, but when the disparity is so big, it's embarrassing. Seriously, "even Tim Bradley" didn't think he won.
Tim Bradley has a vested interest in not calling out bs decisions.

ESPN probably fixed this. Why else have SAS up late in Bristol guns blazing while NBA free agency just opened.

As soon as I heard 115-113 on the second judge, I knew it was going to Horn.

Boxing, same as it ever was.

P.S. At least I will enjoy the hell out of Horn getting destroyed in his "defense" and most likely grin widely at any of his future losses.

Leave it to boxing to finally put a good product on live, free television and try to bring new fans to the game, and then end it with a joke of a decision, and completely screw a living legend and one of the few great champions left in the sport.

The judge with the criminal 117-111 score was some dude named Waleska Roldan, from NY.

One boxing pundit Tweeted this before the fight:

@snboxing 2h2 hours ago
Waleska Roldan still gets international judging assignments??? That's just horrible. Not that it will matter tonight.

Would it be better if they announced scores after every round? Everyone would know what's happening round to round and the boxers would know too.

If you like seeing one boxer run away for the last three rounds of most fights.

Horn would actually have done everything he could in the last round to make it unexciting.

No. They've done this in Texas and some other places. It doesn't help things

See when I heard 117-111, I thought Manny for sure had won it

You were trying to push him around, elbowing and butting. I hope Crawford knocks this dude out bad.
I was just thinking and this has Arum's dirty hands all over this. He gets another Manny fight on ESPN in the rematch (probably in the Philippines) or he gets to use this to, finally, bring Crawford up to Welterweight.

The rematch clause says Brisbane in November.

Obviously, that can be renegotiated, and Horn would likely take a big payday in Phillipines or elsewhere, but for now, it's Australia.

With all the pre-match hype about changing the current boxing model and bringing big fights back to Cable TV...It'll be pretty funny if this was all done to set up a big PPV rematch.

While yesterday was cool, this angle was so overblown. Over the last 2 years, some of the most important fights in the Welterweight division have been on basic TV, not cable.

Klitschko retired this morning. Went out like a real champ. Many, myself included, criticized him at times during his reign for being boring but truth be told he fought everyone in his division for the better part of a decade. Class act too.

Agreed. He is fun. And it looks to me that he is the fighter that everyone is saying. His footwork looked really good, and he changes his angles seamlessly (to my unpracticed eye, anyway.)

I didn't expect to like it, but I even enjoyed the (mild) showboating.

I would love to hear someone's opinion who knows boxing better than I. Was this a real fight, or is Marriaga a bit of a tomato can? He looked completely outclassed.

Edit - vodka fingers

Loma is extremely talented but he isn't, and hasn't, been fighting at his weight class IMO. He didn't even look that good to me yesterday. He just walked him down and played with him

Edit, this was a real fight. Marriaga is a really good fighter but again, size at a certain point trumps all.

This Cotto Kamegai fight is all kinds of awesome. Kamegai is full on going with the Margarito strategy

Yup. Boxing needs more matchups like this.
I don't know what Kamegai's head is made of but goddamn he can take punishment. Tough as F. Very rarely can I sit through a fight like that, 12 replay rounds, and be entertained. Dude is tough.

Cotto, please stay the hell away from GGG Canelo winner

It looks like i can bet on GGG/Canelo not making it to scorecards at +185, does that seem crazy juicy or do I have no idea what I'm talking about?

I'll let Marc handle this one because I keep flip flopping on how I feel this one will end up.

On one hand, their styles are perfectly made for each other. And should produce fireworks that end in knockout for someone.

But... GGG is a very smart fighter and when he respects the guys power, Lemiuex or Jacobs, he fights a very different, cautious, fight than his normal educated pressure fighter style. Throw in that Canelo started his camp almost a month earlier to bulk up for the punishment and is in ridiculous shape and i think the formula is there for a tense 12 round fight.

...but.... the scorecards are already in. It's Golden Boy, it's Vegas, they were turned in months ago. GGG knows he has a very small chance to win on the cards (Canelo got a fn judge to score him the Mayweather fight) and may have to abandon whatever plans he has and really throw caution to the wind.

If I had to wager, I'd lean towards a 12 round fight because when the stakes are high, each fighter is always overly cautious.

I was gonna pop in here and bug everyone on how they feel this one is going to turn out. I'm super pumped for this fight and I think it's because Im torn on who I think will win and I don't have a true rooting interest.

And this is why I hate bad decisions. Chocolatito gets jobbed the first time out, loses his confidence, and gets ran through tonight in the rematch.

You're down with Kellerman's analysis? I think that doesn't give enough credit to Sor. He beat the hell out of Roman, and I don't think it was just confidence. He was quicker, sharper and hit harder.

Full credit to Sor, he was better in every way Saturday but that fight probably doesn't even take place if the first one was scored probably.

Kenny Bayless will serve as the referee for the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin middleweight championship fight on Saturday night (HBO, 8 ET) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He was appointed Monday at a Nevada State Athletic Commission meeting. Also appointed were the judges for the bout, Adalaide Byrd and Dave Moretti, both from Nevada, and Connecticut’s Don Trella
No surprise here. Moretti was one of 3 judges that turned in those horrible Canelo Cotto cards. He only gave Cotto one round that fight, one.

He looked unreal shape at the weigh in and knows he just has to make it 12 rounds because he's getting a decision.

I still favor GGG but hey there are worse ways to spend 100

I favor GGG by brutal KO in around the 8th. I think he played a little possum vs Jacobs to get a big fight. Canelo's in great shape but he's coming up in weight, I'm not sure his power will transfer and GGG has go to sleep power.

EL Uno is 100% right though. Moretti's scorecard is already submitted. GGG would have to sweep the other 2 judges.

Agree with stardog, that's the one thing I haven't been able to get around in thinking about this fight. GGG is murderous puncher and Canelo has yet to be in with a real mw

Canelo on the cards. Just a gut feeling based on GGG's lack of experience with quality opponents (not his fault). Probably rooting for GGG tbh even though he feels a little forced down my throat for the past several years by HBO.

Threw two small bets on a Canelo KO and Canelo KO post 6th round (+500 and +900). There's a chance GGG looks older and Canelo has some more pop at the slightly higher weight.

Oh my goodness. GGG is not a murderous puncher. Someone please post a link to a one punch ko he's pulled off in the last like 10 fights. He's accurate and accumulates punches. He's not Ernie Shavers.

Thoughts on my two Canelo bets? Just tossing shit against the fan but it's a quick 700 for a 50 risk if he KOs him after the 6th

For you boxing gurus:
Is it strange that the last 5 Alvarez opponents (Chaves Jr, Smith, Khan, Cotto and Kirkland) all ended their careers with losses to Canelo? Since being completely outclassed by Mayweather (no shame there) and arguably beating Erislandry Lara** in a split decision, Alvarez has fought a bunch of has-beens, no?

**After which Oscar de la Hoya claims "no one wants a rematch..."

I hope GGG wins decisively by KO or TKO.

The Land of Fist Pumps
It was easy to miss, but Cotto did fight at a different venue the same night as Mayweather/McGregor.

Khan was trying to get a fight with Pacman earlier this year.

Before the Cotto and Kirkland fights, some people thought they had a real chance to win, especially Cotto.
