rest of the world hasn’t done one-team-in-white like American sports have, in the days of B&W TV it must have been hard
Back in the 1978 World Cup thee was one match where they had B&W TV equipment so they made one team change their kits so the public could tell them apart.

California. Duh.
I think another goal could drop Mexico into 4th. Time to start the Tata Watch?

Aw, we lost the announcers. I guess there won't be any more Star Wars and Happy Days references that his younger broadcast partner clearly wasn't getting.

Mexico really does not want to be on this pitch.

this is an instant classic. Canadian players jumping in the snow after the second goal was just pure joy

Yeah, Canada end with Panama away, but the rest of their away games are Honduras, El Salvador, and Costa Rica. They're done with Mexico and get the US at home. They're in great shape.

The Canadians’ remaining schedule is:

@Honduras 1/27
Vs USA 1/30
@El Salvador 2/2
@Costa Rica 3/24
Vs Jamaica 3/27
@Panama 3/30

Those away matches can be scary, so Canada isn’t home free, but they should be in decent shape.

It looks like Canada has the easier upcoming schedule (done with Mexico with the US being done with Jamaica). Both teams are playing at Honduras, El Salvador, and Costa Rica.

vs. El Salvador — Jan. 27
at Canada — Jan. 30
vs. Honduras — Feb. 2
at Mexico — March 24
vs. Panama — March 27
at Costa Rica — March 30

I still am giddy over that CAN-MEX game. The final was 2-1 but this was a game where one side just plain didn’t want to be there.

Yep … Mexico didn’t really start to play until their first goal. Was almost like “ this sucks .. get me out of here” switched to “hey .. we have an actual game - forget about the conditions and just play”

Love having an actual home field advantage - mind you the condition of the field probably hurt Canada more than Mexico.

Our Concacaf representative in the Club World Cup, Rayados, is trailing CAF champions Al Ahly late in 70th minute. Monterrey’s neighbors Tigres reached the final last year.

El Salvador fired Hugo Perez this week. I think it’s a huge mistake as El Salvador were punching well above their weight while he was the manager. He’s been a pretty outspoken critic of the federation and domestic league in terms of what ES lacked compared to other CONCACAF nations. Maybe the interview on Scuffed was the last straw?

No wins since June '22, Coming off a window where they lost to both Guatemala and T&T. I agree about his general good performance, but bloom's off the rose a bit at a time where they were supposed to be peaking/improving to actually go for that World Cup spot so I do get it on a level other than pure politics.

Mexico needed a Fergie Time goal at 90'+11' against Honduras to force penalties, which they won to advance to the Nations League semifinals. Had the referee not extended them such grace, they would have been forced into a Copa America playoff series against T&T.

It was a close call, but the CONCACAF execs in the VAR room will get their packed Cowboys stadium.

Good a place as any. CONCACAF qualifiiers for WC2026 have started. I know you guys will not be into this that much since USA/Mexico/Canada get automatic invites.

Panama beat Guayana 2-0 but took some work to do it, was 0-0 at like 60 minutes.
Then they beat Monserrat yesterday 3-1, in game that at one point was tied 1-1. Sure like to make us sweat.

Next round of games is not until one year from now.

BTW this year it's 6 groups with the top 2 from each group going through, and those 12 teams go into 3 groups of 4 with the 3 winners going to the WC and the top 2 second place finishers going to intercontinental playoffs. Not a free for all "hexagonal" or "octahonal" like previous years.

Not a fan of the new format. The Hex was sporting perfection.
