Watching Gronk this week, is there any doubt he and his mom are headed for Chunky Soup stardom? I wonder how long Campbell's has been waiting for this day

Is there a chance that butler becomes a good corner?

All the talk after the SB has been how many picks he made in pre-season, how he's their biggest playmaker.

Could that translate into a McCourty-like role or is his tackling not good enough? His coverage skills were exceptional during the SB, he was also fingers on the ball on long passes.

I thought he looked good in run support. Assuming Revis is back, I love the depth at CB. As poor as Arrington and Ryan were in the SB we know that, like Butler, in certain matchup s they're fine. Same as Browner....who can get toasted by certain WRs. Butler is at least that, and if he really runs 4.4 rather than 4.6, maybe he's bona fide good

I feel 100% confident stating that the video/photo-palooza will never get any better than this:

Tiny complaint, I wish the Garden would kill the music during those intros.  Much more goosebumps inducing to get the pure crowd reaction.

Whatever, it's all gravy.

I know these are kind of stupid and silly but damn if I don't enjoy them anyway.

Somebody pointed out in one of the threads, I think Ed H., or was it Mystic M., that it was terrifying how Hightower almost punched the ball out of Butler's arm in trying to get him to the ground. Check this out, knowing that the refs check out all turnovers. What is this, the fifth thing Butler did perfectly on the play (cradling underneath the ball with his hand)? Spoilered in case you don't want to relive the potential terror.

Didn't he also make a football move after catching it?  That step out of the end zone seemed to be that.  I dunno.  But I did throw up in my mouth when I saw that...so I got that going for me.

Now that you mention it, by the pose Lockette's in. Still, last I saw in all the film and photos, it wasn't a slam dunk that he and the ball would get to the ground "safely".

I think that photo is long after the pick and play was over. Chris Jones came running back and piled on.

That pic is late, but every time I see the play, I see hightower tripping him and with his hand on butler's arm. It will be like those one unfinished college class nightmares

Here
That pic is late, but there is footage in one of the specials (SoundFX?) where Hightower hits his arm before he is down and the ball very nearly comes out. It likely would have been a fumble and recovered by the Pats, but it's still terrifying.

Actually, pretty sure it's Inside the NFL.

Why is the ball so precariously perched in Butler's hand then? Also, Butler isn't all the way on the ground. Is he getting up?

Your reaction here makes it seem like you don't believe what we're telling you.

Who cares why the ball looks precariously perched in his hand? Go watch a replay. The pic you posted is long after the kid is down.

Watch the replay, Jones doesn't jump on pile until after officials are waving arms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgloErF-H2c

Yes. I think if Hightower had stripped hm when he grabbed his arm, the correct ruling would have been interception and fumble. Since he was not going to ground in the act of making the catch, I don't think the Dez Bryant rule would apply, and he wouldn't have needed to complete the catch through the ground. But that's really one I wouldn't have been to excited to leave in the hands of the refs/replay. If the decided that the contact with Lockette caused the process of going to the ground, incomplete is theoretically possible on replay, though I agree with you he seemed to make a football move before going to ground.

Also, of course, Hightower hits him as he's going down and so it would have been a live fumble. That could have turned out pretty bad too, although there were mostly Patriots around the ball.

Somebody uploaded NFL Turning Point to Youtube in four parts, but the quality blows. He just propped a camcorder/smartphone in front of his TV to film the broadcast, so the audio is muddled and the video is grainy and off-kilter. Anyway, I suppose it's better than nothing (for now, anyway).

If you have an AppleTV, load up the video and click the little stop watch on it "Watch Later". You can then load up Vimeo and go into your watch later videos and watch it on TV.
Did exactly that. Thank you, BC, for this gift. Great to watch...

This link was posted in the thread that will not die yesterday, and should not be overlooked here just because it is from Peter King.

Not that I have to tell anyone here this, but TB12 is just unbelievable, and this article is outstanding.  So is the stuff from McDaniels:

McDaniels: “Tom learns from everything, and he doesn’t let it bother him. What happened next was Tom took advantage of Earl [Thomas] not being quite as aggressive as he could have been. And Danny Amendola played the back of the end zone perfectly. Tommy knows, in the tight red area, you always have to err away from the defender.”
Thomas and Amendola were on the end line, Thomas to Amendola’s right, and Brady threw hard to the outside of Amendola, away from Thomas. Touchdown. Seattle 24-21.

When i watch the replay of the game, I remember thinking to myself that Thomas basically did a reverse Butler on this play.... Amendola was basically right on the end line, and yet Thomas was somehow behind him.

Edelman was also wide open on that play. Seattle was clearly scrambling those last 2 drives.

Here
Yeah, Edelman was wiiiiddddeee open, but Brady was shuffling to his left and Edelman was running right. Brady made a pretty great throw to get that one to Amendola. Thomas played that like garbage, as well. He basically shut himself out of the play completely by taking a route along the very back edge and not angling in front of Amendola.

Such a well done piece...the music is mixed a little hot for a lot of it, but the source material is excellently gathered and displayed.

I'm also not a huge fan of the 2:35 mask that covers up a lot of the graphics

Finally found the equivalent of the Maple Leafs fans video:

The pure jubilation of the Kearse catch is even more painful with the utter silence & disbelief of the Butler INT (starts at around 8:10 mark).
