Quite a day of baseball between the A's-Jays game and this Giants-Dodgers game.

So what happens there, if you are ejected while running the bases?
I believe that a player can't be ejected if play is live, so he has to cross the plate before the ejection takes effect.

The bigger question is whether the run should count if the player left the base line and missed 3B let alone didn't get home. I remember a few years back a batter hit a grand slam single because he never rounded the bases. He got to first base then stopped and celebrated with his teammates after the winning run crossed the plate.

The box score shows that Ramos was both credited with a home run and ejected in the inning. I don't see how he could be ruled as anything other than out for leaving the basepath.

I mean, if you call the guy who hits the home run and then is very clearly screamed at and then chased by an opposing player out because they left the basepath, the Red Sox should just have their 1B punch the next guy that hits a walk off HR in the face as he passes them on the bases.

I knew we should’ve traded for a 1B with a better right cross.

I don't know what that would have to do with the basepaths, but it would certainly be impeding a base runner, aka "pulling a Munoz".

Sal Perez up to 41 homers on the season, four away from tying Johnny Bench's record of 45 homers in a season for a catcher.

He has 14 as a DH this year; don't know how they count that for records purposes

Just saw the perfect term for the ghost runner in extra innings, the Manfred Man.

Those pesky Mariners and their -46 rdiff win their 5th straight. They could make things real interesting in the West if they can pull off a sweep of Houston this week.

Walker Buehler is melting down v SF (6 ER through 3) but the Giants have used 5 pitchers through 3 (today is their second consecutive bullpen game). Crazy game.

The Giants have gone through 5 pitchers through three innings tonight in a 6-1 game.

Oh yeah, they're winning

I am curious to see what Max Scherzer gets this offseason. Today he threw 8 innings, 0 ERs, 6 hits, and 13 ks. He now has the lowest ERA in MLB among qualified starters, 2.28.

Some fancy town in CT
And yet for some bizarre reason they don’t give up a lot of runs despite a bunch of mediocrity behind Cole.

Edit: Probably helps that they don’t have Keystone Cops games in the field every week.

Not MLB, but if you are one of the addicted to baseball people who has MiLB.TV, tune in to the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners AA) vs Springfield Cardinals game tonight (starting basically now). Matt Brash is on the hill for the Travelers, and he is simply electric.

The Giants won 6-1 ... and used nine pitchers in doing so.

Are they a classic example of a team that is built for the regular season, but not for a short series?

They're almost certainly going to have to beat the Dodgers in the NLDS no matter who wins the division, so we'll see quickly.

Fernando Abad just body checked Lourdes Gurriel as he tried to score. I mean, it’d be a penalty in hockey, to say nothing of baseball.
Be a pretty good block. Doesn't look like he was ejected but was taken out of the game after that.

Cincinnati opens a huge weekend for them by scoring 2 in the 9th inning for a 4-2 win over St. Louis. They are within a ½ game of the Padres for the 2nd wild card at the moment and stretch their lead on the Cardinals to 3 games. With the Padres playing the Dodgers and the Reds going head-to-head with the Cardinals, they could put themselves in great position for a playoff spot. They also play the Pirates in 9 of their 20 remaining games.

Eugenio Suarez is also just 4 short of the 30-homer mark while batting .177.

I guess it's nice to see the Red Sox aren't the only major league team with a catcher who can't make a tag and defenders who stupidly interfere with runners to let them score.
I think we still may lead baseball in Little League home runs allowed though.
