Marcus Semien has 120 runs scored, which is only three short of the alltime OAK record which is 123 by Reggie Jackson in 1969.

I would have been very sure that Rickey Henderson had that record but his high for OAK was only 119 in 1982 (he had 146 for NY in 1985, those were fun lineups), he is the alltime career leader with 2295 and played 14 years in OAK and never got to 120, very surprising.

First four-game sweep by Cards at Wrigley since 1921.
This is an alltime rivalry moment, like the Sox beatdown in game 3 of the ALDS last year. The Cubs came in only 3 games behind STL and would have even been ahead if they had won all four one run games (they went into the ninth ahead twice!), but instead they are seven out with six left and likely out of the wild card game too, while STL is very likely to win the division.

Jose Ramirez returns earlier than expected from breaking his hamate bone and hits a grand slam in his first at-bat. 4-0 Tribe over the ChiSox in the 1st inning.

Joc Peterson hit a homer last night, that even he thought was a weak fly to left. MLB needs to chill with the juiced balls.

as Greinke nearly gets a no-hitter to ensure that 18-1, I find out that the Indians went 18-1 against the Tigers too. and the Yanks went 17-2 against the O's.

these are criminally awful head to head records for parity.

Daniel Palka homered for the White Sox just now, raising his OPS to...

.323

That barely seems possible, but he was 7 for 78 with no extra base hits before that, so there you go.

I wonder, what's the record for longest losing streak to end the season by a team finishing above .500?

Decent chance Cubs lose the last 12 in a row to finish 82-80.

White Sox up on Cleveland 4-0 in the 5th. If CLE drops this, they’ll be in a tough spot: 2 back with 3 to play

i mean, would you wanna tough it out on a minor league deal after making 217 mil during your career? the last few years have to be so frustrating for him. i cant see him getting anything more than some invite to spring training, he probably feels done

The NL Cy Young should be interesting. DeGrom probably wins again but he's not even on the list on the Cy Predictor. Based upon the predictor, the top 3 will end up being him, Strasburg and Kershaw.

King Felix said he isn't looking to retire yet. but clearly Seattle won't be resigning him. he was terrific in his prime and it's a shame he never got to the playoffs in that time.

Glasnow goes 66 pitches tonight. 4.1 IP 0R 0H 2BB 4K. Dude is back and nasty as he was before he got hurt. He’s due for 70-80 pitches next time out. He and Morton would both be on regular rest for WC game.

How quickly a playoff race can change. Indians crap the bed against the lowly White Sox, Rays come up like big bosses with 18 straight scoreless innings against the Yankees and before you know it the race is over before the weekend starts.

Rays really rounded into form in September. Bullpen has been nails, Glasnow and Snell back, Morton cruising, clutch plays and tough wins all month long as the playoff race heated up. 2 incredibly tough teams to go at it on Wednesday.

I've been completely detached from it for 2-3 weeks... pretty much since the first week of September when they settled for splitting a 4-game series with the White Sox that included Carrasco blowing a late 3-run lead. They may have been tied for the 2nd wild card spot just last week, but I never had much interest in that... with all the injuries, especially to the rotation (40% of their starts this year were by guys who weren't supposed to be part of the rotation)... I'd just as soon have it over with now because without being able to set up Clevinger and Bieber for the first two ALDS games they would have been humiliated by the Astros or Yankees anyway. I just hope Paul Dolan realizes how much he's to blame for being the cheapest owner north of Miami last winter.

Cards and Brewers are both losing big. If you’re the Brewers how hard do you try to win the last couple of games? Maybe just be as ready as possible for the wild card game. If the two games end like this they are 1 game behind StL

I still think Lindor plus one of the lesser young rotation arms (Plesac?) for Gleyber and Clint Frazier and a young high-ceiling arm makes sense both ways for both teams on the field but I also still think neither team would actually have the balls to do it. Two years left for Lindor now though, the clock is ticking.

The NL wild card game is on Tuesday, I don't know the specifics of how MIL's staff is lined up but yeah, you go pretty damn hard and hope to skip past the coin flip game. Also the Central winner gets the Braves, the wild card winner gets the Dodgers.

When was the last time we had all the playoff teams determined by the final Saturday?

Jorge Soler hits #46, breaking his tie with Trout, and making him the first KC HR champ ever.
