Jansen is even worse now, definitely a big problem for LA.

Meadows goes deep in the 11th for TB, up 7-6 now.

The Cubs were down 4-1 in the bottom of the 9th to the Cardinals last night but came all the way back to tie it.
Then Kimbrel came in and gave up a HR, and they ended up losing 5-4.

The Cubs seemed to be going all-in to win this one, as Anthony Rizzo started and homered despite a sprained ankle, and Baez came in to pinch run in the 9th and scored. They had just activated Kimbrel off the DL too.

Tough loss for them, they're now 4 out in the division, instead of 2 out if they had won. And they are now behind the Brewers by a game for the last wild card spot.

Pete Alonso hit #50 tonight in what should be a Mets win. Cubs lost, Brewers winning...

It's amazing that the NL has a rookie pitcher (Soroka) who's a borderline top 3 candidate for Cy Young, and yet is not favored to win RoY.

Tony Kemp strikes out but it’s ruled no pitch on a very dubious balk call, so he hits the next pitch out for a go-ahead two run HR, Cubs up 8-7 in the 7th now on STL.

Think they would file a protest?

9 HRs allowed by Craig in 19 2/3 inn. Unreal!
Whatever the opposite of "why can't we get pitchers like that", is, this.

HR, HR, BB is pretty sad. Unless you're a hitter.

Hopefully this moves Theo closer to 4 Jersey St.

Really inexcusable managing from the Nats, wasting a Strasburg gem (7 IP , 3 H, 0 R, 6 K) by leaving a clearly ineffective Fernando Rodney to blow a 4-run lead singlehandedly: 6 batters, 1 out. Now tied at 4 going into the 9th.

Nick Castellanos is three doubles away from becoming the 7th player ever to hit at least 60 doubles in a season, and the first since Charlie Gehringer and Hank Greenberg in 1936. The all time record of course is Earl Webb's 67 in 1931 for the Red Sox. Webb never hit more than 30 doubles in any other season of his career.

If Alanis Morrisette had a better grasp of language, perhaps she would have a song lyric discussing the fact that a not so insignificant number of people who hoped for Dave Dombrowski's firing are pinning to replace him with the guy who actually paid Craig Kimbrel $43 million.

George Springer has 3 HRs in the first 4 innings today, he is about to get another AB in the 5th so he should have at least two chances to hit 4.

Cardinals and Cubs, after seven innings, had used a total of 2 pitchers

Nats lose to the Marlins. They can't possibly blow it now, can they?

Yu Darvish was pitching a gem leading 2-1 going into the 9th. Gives up 2 runs and the Cubs trail the Cards 3-2.

If the Cards get a 4 game sweep at Wrigley to essentially end the Cubs season and probably Maddon’s tenure, then this will be one of the most memorable moments of the rivalry.

Entering today, the Cubs were three games out of a playoff spot, and Kimbrel had four losses. He's literally been the difference.

(NOTE: I know it doesn't really work this way; please don't lecture me.)

I'd like to see a Venn diagram showing those who want Theo back and those who wanted Kimbrel back before he signed with the Cubs

Not if the Cubs blow it first.
Fair enough. It would take some serious Natting to not at least get to the WCG. I will say they have no days off plus a DH between now and the end of the season. It is all at home though. How hard do you push for the WCG to be at home?

Wait, someone help me out here. I just lost my fantasy semifinals by .0001 on BA, but in the 5th inning of the Indians game, Roberto Perez reached on a fielding error by Velazquez and it wasn't counted as an at bat. I thought if a batter reaches on an error, he's charged an at bat? Why was I robbed? Why???

Reaching on error does count as an atbat. Same as making an out of the play was made. Perez went 0-3.
Who is your league with? If they don't have him as 0-3 I expect it will be corrected.

Oh ok. Thanks guys. This is gonna haunt for awhile. Tied on RBIs and lost BA by a ballhair.

Fascinating right?
