Jose Bautista is on a humongous tear, OPS 1.022 in September. Of course, it helps to be facing the Rays, Red Sox and Cubs.

Another deep, deep home run to LF in Rogers.

All of Canada's baseball fans coast to coast to coast to coast were watching on TSN, both of us.

Marcus Stroman's slider is the best I've seen for Lo these many a year.

Despite Billy Beane's  knucklecup's best intentions, Adam Dunn has still yet to play the field for the Oakland Athletics.

Down to final strike in 9th and Flowers just wins it in extras.

This team is finding ways to lose. It's remarkable to watch unfold.

The Land of Fist Pumps
The Dodgers with a strong nominee for Worst Play of the Year.  With runners on 1st and 2nd in the 6th, Flyout to Puig charging in from CF, he double pumps before uncorking a wild throw past A-Gon at first (by the time Puig released the ball the runner was about to go into his slide back to 1st).  The catcher throws the ball into shallow left center trying to get the runner advancing to second.  The lead runner is rounding 3rd trying to score and Hanley throws way wide of Kershaw covering at home.  The trail runner has made it all the way around  3rd and scores as Kershaw doesn't bother placing the tag after receiving the throw from the catcher (may have ended up getting spiked).  Should be 3 errors on one play allowing 2 runs to score.

This is simply untrue.

I like Adam Dunn against righties, as does Billy Beane and don't care about the minimal difference in defensive ability between Dunn/Gomes. They're both horrific defensive OF's, arguing who sucks less is silly IMO.

Here are the facts. A Gomes/Dunn platoon, the exact platoon I recommended when the Sox were 6-7 games out of first place months ago, is the same platoon that arguably the best GM in the sport opted to go with for his stretch run.

California. Duh.
The Dodgers had only made 2 errors in their last 91 innings before making 3 on that play.

Both those runs were obviously unearned, so Kershaw only game up 1 earned in 8 innings, lowering his ERA to a ridiculous 1.67.  He's 5 strikeouts short of the NL Pitching Triple Crown, despite making 6 fewer starts than the 2 guys (Strasburg and Cueto) in front of him.

He has 3 starts left (2 against SF). If he gets 2 more wins, he will be the first pitcher since Pedro in 1999 to win 20 when making fewer than 30 starts.

It's pretty much a given that Seattle is going to pass them now; the only question really is will Detroit and KC?

The A's collapse is getting the most press, but the Brewers collapse might be worse.

On August 19th, they lead the Central by 2.5 games. Since then they have gone 3-16 (!!!) and are now out of the playoff picture entirely at the moment. Only 1.5 games but still.

One of my former players is making his major league debut tonight for Houston. Nick Tropeano struck out Austin Jackson in his first major league at bat. Very proud.
That's really cool.

It's like watching a car wreck at this point. You want to look away, but you can't.

After giving up a lead-off single to Dee Gordon, Yusmeiro Petit (the mother of all reclamation projects of the 2014 season) then strikes out Puig, AGon and Kemp to end the top of the first.  Will the Giants be able to do anything against Kershaw?

This game is like getting playoff baseball about three weeks early.

Saw the replay on MLBN. Papelbon denied doing anything gesture-wise. Then, what was he doing, straightening out his jock?Said he and Joe West go back a long way and don't always see eye to eye.  Ha, old Red Sox - Yankees games and Joe West, good times. 2004 ALCS, pre Paps, Joe did us a solid, actually two.

LOL, Met's announcer: "4 of the Marlins last 11 runs came yesterday against Papelbon.  Before Papelbon went.... lewd."

Can't you tell us, or would it suffer if we don't get it from the source? That's why we read here. Back from a long driving trip and tired and lazy.

IIRC, Alexi Ramirez couldn't make an easy play on a ball up the middle and the winning(?) run scored from second. It was something stupid like that.

EDIT: Double checked, yeah that's supposedly what happened.

That's why I didn't tell you outright, because a) i know you're a lazy whiner and b) i was sure someone would recap it in as inept a way as possible. Knew I could count on you MakMan

Two out, Royals down 3-2, Dyson on second. He takes off with the pitch, which hit the plate and bounces away at a crazy angle allowing Dyson to score the tying run with a head first slide.

Aoki doubles, Gore pinch runs.

Gore then breaks for third, Cain hits a chopper that shorthops Ramirez and Gore scores the winning run from second.

Don't you have a video link?

No worries. Actually, I saw an interview with Dyson on Intentional Talk, and part of the video. Millar just totally makes that show like Jackie Gleason made the Honeymooners.
