I'm second guessing Farrell for not pinch running for Ortiz in the 9th. Ultimately, it didn't matter, but not putting a runner in for him when he was the tying runner on 2nd base with one out doesn't make any sense to me.

He was never on 2nd with one out. He advanced to 2nd on Napoli's one-out groundout.

I thought the right move was to not pinch run for him with one out and him on 1st. Rational was that a base hit could tie it and the inning could end there. But with him on 2nd with two out I thought Sizemore should have pinch run, as you likely needed a base hit to tie it and odds were likely that a base hit also scored Sizemore.

Leaving the hit-and-run play on after Xander had nearly been picked off in the 8th was a bad idea.  It should stand to reason that Bogaerts would be more hesitant with his lead after that (and the knee to the head), which would make him an easier out at 3rd even if he had run all the way and gotten the sign right.  I hate that whole move of PH Herrera for Ross, then doing the hit-and-run.  I disliked it before the worst case scenario played out, and hated it after the pickoff was only avoided by the Baltimore SS being late to cover the bag.

What was the point of PH Herrera for Ross, as opposed to Pierzynski? Or just letting Ross hit. Didn't really get that.
Ross would have been facing a tough righty, AJP a tough lefty.  Herrera is a switch hitter and, at least in theory, had a better chance of getting the bat on the ball.
I see the logic, but the basic problem is that Herrera isn't good.

Are we sure Sizemore was available for anything other than an emergency on such a short turnaround?

Had that thought too. If there was any situation for him to play today that would have been it, but after playing three straight days he might have been deemed completely unavailable. Seems like a very logical explanation given Farrell's past PR usage
