does anyone watch these networks? I mean does anyone watch the BTN? I get the financial aspect of having it, but do people really watch? no truly meaningful game will ever be on, unless its in an Olympic sport. Is it a friends and family type thing?

Well it leads off the football season with Texas A+M and South Carolina, which is a pretty big one. I don't know what kind of numbers they'll get outside of live sports, and yeah they won't have the marquee games, but I'm sure everyone involved will be making tons of money. Except for the players, of course.

I gewt they make money and will put up a good game every once in a while, but that is for 12 weeks a year. after that? no one watches SEC hoops, so is it 40 weeks of Nick Saban at home and "preview of Spring practice at ole Miss?"

I'm serious. I have the BTN and literally have never watched it except the 4th quarter the Michigan - app state game.

Kentucky Men's and Tennessee Women's have plenty of fans, and it's a good place to watch some collegiate olympic stuff I would think. But great point about the B1GN.

I don't think they care as long as they get that sweet sweet carriage fees.

I assume that this is meant to be the conference catch-all thread, not just a network discussion.

On Aug 30, I'll be watching the Auburn-Arkansas game since they came to terms with DirecTV.  Beyond that, I really don't care about the SEC Network at all.

As for Auburn 2014, the one thing I've learned about Auburn football over the last 10 seasons is that I have No Freaking Idea what will happen.  I'm torn between "Oh no, a high preseason ranking.  Our kryptonite!" and "Gus Malzahn actually gets to use the same QB for more than one season in a row?  Sweet!"   I really have no expectations whatsoever, intellectually speaking.  Frankly, I'm fine with emotionally coasting off of an amazing 2013 season for a few more weeks.  Sure, it could have had a better ending, but that was a hell of a trip.  I don't think that 2014 can possibly live up to it, so my emotional expectations are low while I can see the argument for another great run, or a moderate step back if Marshall doesn't become a better passer.

And SECN has, at least for tonight, the "top" ABC crews too!\

Thanks, Domer, hadn't heard of Brent's move. Fowler and Herbie (on ABC) should be great.

Musburger and Palmer will be working for the SEC Network all season. Fowler is taking over for Musburger on Saturday nights for ABC.

SEC had a pretty horrid first week, but Georgia and LSU showed what the conference was about. Great pass coverage, forced turnovers, and persistent north/south running to wear you down for the 4th quarter.

How is going 8-3 (two losses coming within SEC play) a bad week? Especially when considering that their top teams (save for SC, who of course lost to A&M) Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Auburn and Ole Miss all won against quality opponents.

Alabama and Missouri were both horrible in their wins, and Vandy completely stunk up the joint, only one to really exceed expectations was Miss St.

Vanderbilt got smoked at home against a Temple team that was 2-10 last year. They won't win a game in the SEC.

At least he'll make SEC athletic honor roll for proving he can write his own name
