I just got confirmation from my season ticket representative that you will no longer be able to use your Red Sox rewards card as a ticket for games this season. Electronic ticketing, which is now the default option for all season ticket accounts, is exclusively handled by the MLB Ballpark app. If you don't have a smartphone, or a supported platform, or a data connection, or a charge, you're out of luck. I think it's a huge step backwards in ease of use and requested paper tickets for this season. The rewards were always pretty shitty, so it's no great loss not to be getting the points.

The deadline to request regular tickets was yesterday, but you may still be able to get it switched if you contact your rep. They really should have made it more clear that the app was replacing the rewards card.

Will it still be possible to print tickets? It's not a big deal if I have to "toss" them to myself.

Unfortunately, some garages (the one on Dalton St., for example) still require you to surrender a paper ticket to get the discounted rate.

I think you can still print them.

Has anyone ever used the reward points for anything useful or interesting?

I cashed in a "VIP Ballpark Tour and Lunch with a Member of the Red Sox" rewards item once. The VIP tour was actually just a giant Red Sox Destinations group. We ended up walking around the park with 75 out-of-towners, where they assumed we'd never been to Fenway before. The lunch was 150 people waiting in line to meet Brock Holt. I got a picture with him doing the Steve Holt, so I guess it wasn't a total waste.

Yes, you can still print the tickets at home. But you can do that even if you opt for paper ticket delivery. Since I'm not using the app this year, there's no downside in getting the regular tickets shipped out, too.

Yes, print them at home and anybody that you Ticket Toss with can also print at home. Even if you get the paper tickets, you can still use the MLB app as your ticket.

As soon as I get the offseason email informing us that e-tickets are the default option, I email my season ticket rep and request paper.
I find the paper tickets are easier to keep track and honestly I've always kept all the stubs as a souvenir from each game. Always a great day receiving the full book of tickets in March, so I hope we will always have that paper option.

They've got a lot of stuff that's great for kids. Over the past two years, my son has been on the field during batting practice, and also (on another occasion) met Don and Jerry in the broadcast booth. Seeing those experiences through his eyes was special and well worth the hassle of collecting points; I can certainly see why people without young kids would decide the points aren't worth the bother.

i have kids just never used the points until the end of the season when it was entering raffles which I guess I never won. Perhaps I should look as season goes on, thing is I went to like two games myself last year so it wasn't something I thought about
