Lennon has resigned. He can leave with dignity.

Howe, Lampard, Clarke seem to be in the running for the job.

Personally i'm glad he's gne and the new guy can take a look at the squad and identify targets for the new season. Celtic need a rebuild. Scott Brown will hang up his Celtic boots soon an aw.

And aye, I am rooting for Rangers to get to the last 16 the morra. Some respite from the tawdry sight of the SNP eating itself.

Dignity? Maybe my sarcasm meter is broken, aye, that must be it. If the man had an ounce of dignity he would have resigned 6 months ago as the car crash unfolded. His arrogance and ego were beyond belief. His lack of football management skills were there for all to see. He lucked into the job a second time. Glad to see the back of him.

Just wait... Kennedy given the job until end of season. Celtic will string a few good results together, maybe win the Scottish Cup. Meanwhile the Celtic PR machine will feed the press with nice sound bites proclaiming they are conducting a global search for a football coach commensurate with the Club's pedigree, history and stature. This will get season tickets flowing again, especially with the gullible. Finally, they will make a statement saying sorry we tried, but we believe John Kennedy is the man to take us forward.

I'm pretty sure Clarke doesn't like the Glasgow fish bowl, I think all his family are down south. Scotland job is sort of part time. I could be wrong. But I'd take him.

These days I expect most managers to wait until they get sacked as it works out better financially. A month ago i was walking about the West End and i saw Lennon with his son walking the dog, early in the morning. Just a dad, a son and a dug. I thought, he's just a normal guy doing his best. That it clearly wasn't goo enough this season is evident. But someon could have had a word with him sorted out a way for him to leave by, say, mutual consent and it not hurt him financially. He was only there cos someone let him be there. I guess with Lawwell just out the door Lennon's peg got more shoogly.

Whoever Celtic get in next, it needs to be someone with stature who can stand up to the board, but also build a side that can play decent stuff. They also need good contacts for getting in loans and young talent. Gerrard has brought in some really good players in the last couple of years for small fees and now those players especially Aribo & Kamara & Kent have come on leaps and bounds, and have good resale value.

Clarke teams tend not to play exciting football. Not sure he's the right man for Celtic.

There were rumours that Rafa Benitez might be interested. He’s back from China and sniffing around for a gig.
I dunno if Celtic coudl afford or would want to afford Rafa. And as a kind hearted soul i do not want to see Rafa on a touchline in Falkirk or Livingston witnessing the kind of football that would make a shy bald bhuddist reflect etc etc

I'm sure he does his best to be a good father and dog walker, but he was way out of his depth being a manager. The writing was on the wall early. I think as fans, it's easy to say "for a man that loves the club so much he should have walked away, the damage he's doing is irreparable". For me, he came across as arrogant, he treated journalists with contempt and I'm not a big a fan of the press. I don't think anyone deserves the vitriol that came his way but unfortunately it comes with the turf being a manager of Celtic and I'll come back to that regarding Clarke. The Celtic board obviously enabled him, maybe he thought that after one horrific display after an another ( almost weekly falling further and further behind) and the board sitting on their arses, he was bullet proof. Maybe that encouraged him. I saw a few rambling press conferences where I thought he had lost the plot. He basically attacked everyone and denied he was responsible for the shit being played on the field pointing fingers at everyone but himself.

I love the word shoogly, there's a pub in Edinburgh called The Shoogly Peg, good little pub across from the Back Cat on Rose street. Bringing back memories. That, and skoosh....love the word skoosh. Speaking of Edinburgh and I don't know if this is common knowledge. On my last visit I was talking to someone who had a kid in the Hibs system, he told me the players hated Lennon, they thought he was a bit of a dinosaur. He had his favorite pets, his idea of team bonding after a bad result was asking the players to go out for a few pints, but hardly anyone would show up. They just couldn't stand the guy. No idea if true. But it kind of confirms what I heard previously.

This is one reason I don't think Clarke would take the job, and this comes as no surprise obviously:

"Still Kilmarnock manager at the time, Clarke was outraged when Rangers fans called him a “Fenian bastard” and roundly denounced the discrimination that accompanied his youth as a Catholic growing up in Ayrshire where, before becoming a professional footballer, he served an apprenticeship as an instrument engineer.
In a rare public display of emotion Clarke, whose family home remains in Berkshire, appeared close to tears as he made his disgust plain. “I wake up every morning and thank Chelsea for taking me away from the west of Scotland,” he said. “I’m so happy my children have grown up not having to understand or live with this.”

Rafa is a weird one, no idea why he would come to Celtic,. I admit I was totally wrong on Rodgers, I never thought he would go to Celtic. But at least you could point to him being a childhood fan of Celtic and his Irish roots. Rafa? I can't see it, unless he loves plastic pitches, a limited budget, dricht nights in Inverness, and yes, it's the SPL. However, if someone starts printing T Shirts with " Ask Rafa! He can only say "naw"., I'll buy one as long as the profits go towards a salary contribution. I can but dream.

The reason i mention the dog walking, is you forget these are people with families...and in Lennon's case he's had to put up with so much over the years. Assault, death threats...the usual stuff associated with being a manager of an Old Firm Team.

He was given the job. Not my choice of manager by any means but he was called upon and he answered the call. Not his fault. I agree I think he's yesterday's man in terms of his coaching prowess.

I like Clarke but not as Celtic boss. But i love him more for the quote in your post, a quote I'm familiar with. I mean the number of Gers Jocks who have the Union Fleg in their online avatars is sad, epecially when it's younger ones who you know are getting it from the parents who tend to no little or nothing about what's really gone down on these shores.

Meh, to be honest, I don't blame them. It was expected. I mean, St. Johnstone fans were out in "force" in Perth after they won the league cup. And if we want to get all scientific, there's no evidence, anecdotal or otherwise, that shows spikes in Covid due to out door gatherings. At least none that I've seen. But if they all went home to each other flats etc to pound a few Tennents, that's a different story. Of course, wee Nicola went on a bender, she's chomping at the bit to cancel the next Celtic-Rangers game...but she has her plate full with other things.

I fully expect 'Arry and Megs to be invited to Ibrox for the unfurling.

What did shock me, Derek mcInnes was sacked. That did surprise me. Having said that, Aberdeen were pretty dire and finding the back of the net had become a rarity. Oddly, that makes "slippy" the longest tenured manager in the SPL. "Wild" times indeed.

Looks like Eddie Howe is in advanced talks to become the new Celtic manager. I'm more that happy with that move.

I was having Roy Keane nightmares.

I'll wait until it's formally announced. He seems to have a good footballing philosophy.I just don't trust the Celtic board. They stuck with a manager for over a year that I wouldn't delegate to put out cones for morning drills. And everyone knew it ...but them.

This is why we can't have nice things:

In this of all pandemic years, I really would have been cheering for another boring Celtic domestic treble - or at least for Rangers to have their unbeaten season spoiled yesterday - had I known the alternative would be this sort of potentially virus-spreading anarchy.
That article stating lots of sectarian sentiments coming from the Ranger fans - rightfully denounced by Sturgeon. Was kind of pleased by the end of Celtic’s dominance (mostly via the Gerrard link). May have to rethink that.

Suffices to say I'm still bothered by Gerrard being Rangers' manager (and Dalglish's role in making that happen), but I can't deny the quality of job he's done - and needless to say, he didn't put a foot wrong in managing the incident with Slavia Praha racially abusing Glen Kamara.

I hope he can be the eventual successor to Klopp, but I'd like to see his work in a lower-mid table Premier League setting next
