That video, holy shit. Yeah, that was somethin'. I went from single and dating my fiance in Attleboro, through Memphis, and now outside of Chicago with 3 kids in the span of those titles. That was awesome.

Seriously, we've all gone through so many life changes since the start of this run. Crazy to think about

Probably better for the "celebrating what it is" thread but the fact that it takes more than 40 minutes to scratch the surface of Boston championships over the past 15 years is remarkable.

This is tremendous if you're a fan of all the Boston teams. There's a ton of Pats stuff but it also includes the other titles this century.

Magical.

Man, Horton's goal against Montreal still gets me, almost 6 years later. But this whole thing is incredible. Brady's interview with Bradshaw.... awesome.

And I'd forgotten him pouring water on the Vancouver ice. Man.

tombrady: I found my combine shirt from 17 years ago and it got me thinking. This is what they said about me then..... "Poor build, Skinny, Lacks great physical stature and strength, Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush, Lacks a really strong arm, Can’t drive the ball downfield, Does not throw a really tight spiral, System-type player who can get exposed if forced to ad lib, Gets knocked down easily."

As @edelman11 always reminds me ... "You can prove em right or you can prove em wrong!" Good luck to all of you this weekend!!

Brady motioning to Amendola that this pass will be easier if he moves over three feet. Falcons defense responds by not moving.

Really good article. Glad I clicked through to read all of it.

They like to say no one foresaw Tom Brady being an NFL superstar, and while I can add myself to the list of people who doubted, I can say I know one man who did not.

In 2000, my father, a University of Michigan Wolverines fan, told me on the phone, “Just you wait, you wait… This Tom Brady is incredible. He’s got the ‘it’ factor.” I laughed and told him he was crazy, that no such factor existed, and that the pro game was so different from the college game. Brady wouldn’t be able to duplicate any success he had at Michigan in the NFL. (Later my father would predict the Miami Dolphins should sign Drew Brees and I was like, “Dad, he’s had two shoulder surgeries. I mean, come on, he throws the ball for a living.” Basically, I need to listen to my father more). My Dad insisted Brady was the type of leader who would absolutely succeed at the NFL level, that I was overlooking his intangibles, and well, I obviously was.

We now know Tom Brady is the best quarterback in NFL history and likely the best player in NFL history. Not only does he have five Super Bowls, if he plays as long as he intends to play, he’ll probably have most of the major passing records (assuming Drew Brees, who is also quite spry for a thirty-eight-year-old, doesn’t outlast Brady). But, none of these accomplishments fully explain what my father was trying to tell me in 2000.

Such poor coverage. #32 had #22 right behind him for help over the middle so he should have been entirely focused on preventing an out towards the sideline. Instead, he basically gives Amendola a free lane to the corner of the end zone.

Another fun fact from that article: I'd always kinda thought that Malcolm Mitchell catch was the closest to a ref error (i.e., that he actually dropped it) of any pass in the game. Fortunately, nobody challenged. But he slows down the play enough in this GIF that you can see the ball drop straight down after contact - I guess his emphatic slamming of the ball erased doubt in the officials' minds.

This video might need it's own thread. 5 minutes in and I just noticed Ivan Fears on the SB 36 sideline. Dante gets a lot of deserved love for his ling tenure but Fears is impressive.

At various points you see the late Steve Belicheck and the late Myra Kraft.

SB 38 ends and Greg Gumble says that 2 superbowls in 3 years is as close to a dynasty as we're ever going to get.

I am having all of the feels and we haven't even gotten to October 2004 yet.

Yes in that replay it looks as if he's saying he'd rather not get crushed by the defender. The replay also makes it seem unlikely that he'd have picked up more than 2 or 3 yards had he gotten up and tried to run. The defender was on his feet very quickly.

Off point a bit but I was surprised to learn that Mitchell is only 5'11". He plays like a bigger guy. Maybe he has a large wingspan or maybe it's just his excellent hands but he has a large catch zone.

Game highlights, Tecmo Bowl version. The Alford pick 6 and Edelman catch are done really well.

Pretty sure what you're seeing in that GIF is the brace on his left arm as it goes to the turf. The ball looks to be cradled in his right, secure above the ground. That's a catch.

Phil Simms, probably. Didn't he try to dub Peyton "the Sheriff" during his final playoff run, and act like that had been the guy's nickname his entire career?

This is correct, he had the ball totally secure and that is his elbow pad.

That was great-thanks for posting.

There a nice bit of foreshadowing in the video, linking the magic of '04 and '17.

As they are highlighting Game 4 of the '04 ALCS right before the Ortiz HR that wins the game. (around 7:15 on the video)
a WEEI fan placard shown that says

Can it possibly be true that nobody has posted the day-after SB radio shows?

(has random call-ins from a bunch of people including James White)

If you haven't already, grab a download of the BBC broadcast of the game, with or without breaks. Their methods are influenced (obviously) by their soccer experience. As a result, the game lives and breathes in an entirely different way and stands on its own. During US commercial breaks they cut to a studio team analyzing play.

In my opinion, it's a far, far superior broadcast and experience.
Where can I find the BBC broadcast again?

I will buy it for content like this but the actual games will be hard to watch for me. I just can't stand Zolak and his Matt Foley screaming. He steps all over Bob Socci during the biggest moments of the game. I wish they mixed in the national TV and radio calls.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. Zolak stepped all over Socci during the game especially on the final play.

FWIW 3 Games to Glory is $28 on Amazon, opposed to $40 at the proshop. Cheaper for BluRay too if you're one of those weirdos.

Mine came in Friday.

They misspelled "disc" as "disk" on each Blu-ray. D'oh.

Watching now - it's pretty much every play from every game. A little tedious to watch at times...probably doesn't need to be as long as it is.

Then again, I'm watching them play the Texans, which is probably why it's so hard to watch.

Gotta say - it's great but the Super Bowl disc doesn't have many bonus features we haven't already seen or heard that are particularly noteworthy; they spoiled more than I thought they did prior to release.

Though this was great:

The story about Malcolm losing two of his allocated Super Bowl tickets before SB49, only to have someone find them so his mom could ultimately get into the game, is absolutely fantastic

I hadn't.

Yeah, people may be a little disappointed, then. There's some decent stuff in the Divisional and AFCCG discs, but the Super Bowl one contains nothing really new and interesting.

There's a round table with Zo, Curran, Chatham, and Reiss where they're asked which is their favorite of the five Super Bowls, but other than that, there was nothing I hadn't really already seen. Kind of disappointing. All of the hours of footage they'd been touting are overwhelmingly from the games themselves; the bonus stuff is mostly posted in this thread or was seen during the buildup to the game (like when they interviewed the Rutgers DBs).

Not much in the way of X's and O's. Hoped for a lot more than what was delivered, especially considering I received a million emails apologizing for the May delivery but promising it'd be "well worth the wait!"

Meh.

There's also commentary from Flowers and White through the fourth quarter and overtime, but neither guy is overly excitable (you mostly hear them chewing and drinking during the highlights), and they don't really offer much more than "yeah, I caught it and turned up field..." or "I was just tying to make a play," or "this was a big play by the defense..."

Again, not much into X's and O's. Nothing different than what any of us and our friends were probably saying as we watched the game live.

A season recap video that I haven't seen posted before. Has some decent production value in it. Guess what regular-season play got 3 multi-angle replays?
