Safari 13 Ad Blockers

Wrong approach, if it's breaking uBlock then that browser is probably one of the few supporting Google's change that is attempting to break all really effective adblockers, you need to switch to a browser that allows you to keep control: Firefox, Vivaldi, Brave, almost all Chromium based browsers have already decided to fork from Chrome and their new crippled 'let us prevent real adblocking so we can keep the bulk of our adstream revenue flowing bullshit model'.

Interesting. I was not aware that Apple had significant revenues from browser ads.
They don't, which is in part why they are not getting the huge pushback that Google is getting. The reality is Apple owners buy almost anything they say so when told the change will improve speed and security they uncritically buy the explanation. ATM it looks like the only ios option that can still run the serious adblockers like ublock origin is actually Firefox. NO serious adblocker will ever use the new alternate Chrome replacement API as it's permanently and deliberately crippled in several respects, which is why every other browser refused to accept the change.

Thanks for posting that. The only question I really have is this line:

If users have moved to a new ad blocker that they downloaded from the App Store, then it may not be actually blocking all the ads, as users expect.
I wonder if this is actually true? Honestly, I never found the classic ad blockers on iOS working that well. I ended up turning them off as they completely broke a number of sites and features, such as embedded Twitter on SoSH. Other sites just loaded white pages with nothing on them, I finally figured out it was the ad blocker extensions.

That article isn't biased at all. Wow. There are valid technical reasons Apple disabled the legacy extension control. They didn't adopt some Google standard. Read the uBlock posting here:

For the record, I use 1Blocker on iOS. Its really really good. Ghostery on Mac which is above average. But not great.

We can't answer the question without knowing exactly what adblockers you were using with exactly what browser. That's the whole point, many do a very poor job. I'm going to wager you never tried/used ublock origin.
Purify, AdBlock and Crystal were the three. I don’t think I ever tried UBlock.

If you attempt to try it, you want ublock origin, there are wannabe similar apps using the ublock name which are toxic, same goes for adblock, there are more than a few bogus apps using that same basic name. Of course this only matters if you decide to try Firefox for ios
