That was hardest 80 minutes of football Arsenal has played in a year and they lose on shit goaltending and CB play. Yes, they need midfielder who can control the game and let Kante roam, but my goodness that was poor at the end

Play bad players, get bad results.

Mustafi should've been shipped to Siberia in the summer. David Luiz never should've been bought.

Anthony Taylor couldn’t have handled that much worse. He obviously couldn’t have been sure it was an arm, since it wasn’t. He shouldn’t have blown the whistle.

California. Duh.
Ugh, not sure how that cross got all the way through. 1-1.

EDIT: Or have we got another foot vs. armpit here?

EDIT 2: It's silly, but Liverpool have lost a few goals the same way.

That was a misuse of VAR. horrible. Can’t play the call with your hand, why should it count?

The first VAR is exactly what it should be used for. Check if it hit Lallana's arm or his shoulder. And it worked.

The second was stupid. As far as I'm concerned, if they have to use that stupid dotted line to determine someone is 2 mm offside, it should stand.

I can’t find the exact article so I can’t take credit, but I redid the math.

Let’s assume the camera is recording at 30 frames per second.

A striker running at 20 MPH covers 894 cm/second.

That means the camera is taking a picture for every 29.8cm of travel, or 29,800mm.

We’re judging this shit by millimeters when the camera isn’t capable of it. It’s fucking insane.

Another millimeter VAR decision to take a goal away from Sheffield United.

edit: I used the wrong team name.

I enjoy watching Mooy play. He is a pretty well-rounded mid-fielder, contributes to the attack and can play some strong defense. I am interested to see what happens when his loan is up; he certainly deserves better than going back to Huddersfield. Brighton has really brought the best out of him. (Arsenal could certainly use someone like him, but his age (29) doesn’t fit with their current rebuilding timeline.)

Wow, what a goal by Jahanbakhsh! Corner kick for Brighton and a header across to him and he absolutely nailed a bicycle kick into the far corner of the net to leave Brighton level with Chelsea 1-1. Now they are showing all sort of life, seems like there could be another goal in this one.

Whoa. Jahanbakhsh bicycle kick. Wow.

I don't know a lot about him, but seeing the reaction from him and from his teammates when he finally scored on Saturday, and then that remarkable score right there, hard not to be really happy for the guy.

I saw it, passed out, and just came to again. Hope this allows him to stick in the prem through this year at least, I was resigned to an Eredivisie loan and subsequent transfer

Super start for Spurs. Allow an early goal to Ings and now their best player today, Ndombele is coming off with a groin injury.

When was the last time Serge Aurier wasn’t the worst player on the pitch? It’s gotta be a parents vs. kids game, right?

Kane scores the equalizer but is narrowly offsides and probably tore his hamstring in the process. Just a sterling start to the new year.

Knock(aert)* on wood, Brighton are going to be ok this year. At this point they’re no longer an obvious relegation pick every season - just a punchy mid-tier PL side with a great stadium and committed local ownership. Pretty remarkable. I’m sure we haven’t seen the very last of the Championship over the very long haul, but the 20s are looking exciting. Better than the 90s, anyhow.

(*I know AK is out on loan but I had to make the pun.)

I thought Lo Celso was ok. Horrible from everyone else.
Really? I thought Lo Celso was horrible! The passing in the final third was dreadful from everyone, but Lo Celso in particular was bad, it felt like the game was moving too fast for his brain to process. I can’t remember a single positive play from him today. Even late in the game there was a play that looked like a really promising attack and all Lo Celso had to do was send a short pass to Kane, but Lo Celso didn’t stay on his feet and hit the turf to draw a foul.

Dele looked like he was going to murder Aurier at the end of the game. Can’t say I’d blame him.

Sydney Sox told me that he met Mooy when flying from the UK to Australia and Mooy gave him one of his St Mirren shirts. Seems like a really good dude, since it’s not like Sydney could actually charm anyone.
