Gustave is 22 and throws in the high 90s. Might be an actual chance for him to stick in the bullpen.

Man, I doubt it. He has no idea where the ball is going.  146 BB in 196 mL innings.  He was much better in 2014, but he gave up a lot more hits.

That's makes sense - Rule 5 claimants usually clog rosters for 3-4 months before the claiming team finally gives up.

Smells like an MLS trade where a draft position is swapped for "allocation money".  The Royals probably thought Gustave wouldn't fall to them.  Would be nice if the inflow came off the Sox' cap calculation.

If he doesn't work out, they can trade him to the Dodgers for their AAA player, Fabio Martinez
