Good god, can NESN's site get any more terrible/intrusive ads? I thought I'd left my incognito window for xvideos open.

In one of the few humorous interludes on Felger & Mazz these days, they lambasted Therrien while repeatedly playing audio snippets of his comments, especially his sarcastic Francophone pronunciation of "That Crap!!" followed by his unexplained obnoxious nasal breathing.

Hopefully they'll have some of it posted on their site later, but if anyone can pass on a link to the raw Therrien audio or video with those comments, I'd be indebted.

EDIT - Never mind. Found it in enemy territory.

The Murray brothers! How exciting.

The Bruins need to get their PK together, because 4/9 is awful. Montreal is going to get power plays. It is a fact of life, but if the Bruins can get back some of that mojo they had in the Detroit series they could easily win both games in Montreal with their 5v5 play. Plug the leaks. Win the games. Tough thing to do with Subban owning them on the PP, but if they can figure it out this series can end quickly.

I think the Bruins organization made a big mistake in even addressing this "issue." It doesn't need to be said that the Bruins don't endorse racism, and the only thing it did was to legitimize the story. It made a mountain out of a molehill.
Disagree.  Happening just a couple of days after the Sterling incident, and a couple of years after Ward's goal, it would have been a story no matter what the Bruins said or didn't say.  I think they were right to get in front of it.

Carey Price isn't good at math, I know that much.

"Like I said, it's a pretty general statement at this time of year," Price said. "If you look at all the goals that are scored throughout the playoffs, probably 30 percent of them are tips and 50 percent of them are screens and the other 10 (percent) are just clean shots."

He just left the 10% that are luck unstated.

It's more of a venn diagram actually, and he drastically understated the percentages.  30 percent of the 50 percent that are screens are also luck, and 40 percent of the 30 percent that are tips are also screens.  All told, every goal that has ever been scored on Carey Price is due to tips, screens, and luck, with the other 10 percent being empty net goals.

On a related note, can the B's change their goal song to "Who Let The Dogs Out" for the rest of the series?

Perhaps "Luck Be a Lady Tonight?"

A big mistake? I don't think it was a mistake at all. Perhaps if they had released some neutered, bland response straight from the PR department. But Neely and Julien's responses were emphatic and sincere, not just that the Bruins "don't endorse racism" (of course they don't), but that the people who post that shit, to quote Julien "are not what we call our fans." Neely also doesn't call them fans, just an "ignorant group of individuals." They are saying that not only do they not agree with those sentiments, but also that they don't want people who hold those sentiments rooting for their franchise. They are saying that you can either be a Bruins fan, or you can be a racist; if you are the latter, you are not a part of the fan base, even if you think you are. I think that's meaningful.

edit - It would have also been a bigger story if they hadn't said anything, and now that they've said their piece, they can ignore it for the rest of the series. I'm sure there were more asinine tweets last night, but there wasn't a need to address them because they already had.

I'm not saying the statement wasn't sincere, but they ultimately said what any professional sports organization in this country would have said. I don't think anyone is going to say "we prefer the racists in our fanbase not tweet their racist views." I don't think any organization should ever feel obligated to come out and condemn what a huge minority of their proclaimed fanbase says on Twitter. The misrepresentation is the media's concoction and anything they say on the subject is only going to give reports on the subject more legitimacy. If it was a player or employees, that's a different story. If people were doing something horrible at the event itself? Sure, I can understand that. But when we're talking about fans from cities and entire regions, sports organizations aren't in any way or form responsible for emotional real-time reactions made online. If you search hard enough, you'll find racists/bigots/hatemongerers everywhere. Ultimately, I think it's just best to ignore such crap.

Florek down, Fraser up.

I'm surprised they went with Fraser -a non presence for most of his 14games here - over Spooner.

I'm not, only because they've shown clearly that they do not want Spooner playing anything but center. Right now, there's no room for a center here.

Also not surprised at Fraser up, since he is a much better shooter/sniper/scorer than Florek. B's need some finishers on the wing right now, he might provide that element. Certainly more than Caron or Florek.

They look like they are playing tight and afraid to get a penalty, I think they need to loosen it up, have some fun and bash some heads.   I don't know if that will help them win, but it would enhance my entertainment factor.

He is that, at least in the AHL, but he had 14 games here and really didn't show off any of those skills during that time.

True, but most of those games were way back in the fall.  Perhaps they feel he has progressed, especially given his performance in the AHL playoffs.

I think the last thing they want to do is take more penalties. MTL has 4 ppg in 3 games.

That was clear last game and they played way too tentatively early. The refs last game were letting everything go and that should benefit the Bruins but it was Montreal pushing the limits and getting away with some stuff.  I agree with doc and they need to play their game at least until it gets called and you can judge what you can get away with. I think the fact that it's the Bell Centre is scaring them

I hope that's just Claude trying out some new things and showing something that the Habs have to think about. Or something. I think all I would have done would have been Fraser on the 3rd and Paille back to Merlot. This seems a little panicky.
never mind. but I'll leave for posterity :)

Smith on lines, "A lot of times when that happens it's just to lighten the mood". Okay, fair enough. I'll crawl back in my hole.

I wouldn't mind seeing Krejci's line get a shake up. He looks like he's just Jagering the puck over the blue like every time he's trying to get it into the zone.

Someone anagramed all the names of the players in the series:

I for one, will be rooting for Hazard Cone, and Kat Wombatskirt over Moist Raven and Ladies Wee this evening.

Not sure how I feel about the B's employing Slimy Hitler on their team. Seems in direct contrast with Cam's statement last week.
