I love these "10 extra days on a 5 month injury, concern about timeline being pushed back" as if these injury timelines are anything but the most vague of estimations. That's not how injuries work, or you know.... human bodies that you can project the timeline from surgery to ready for elite athletic performance with any degree of certainty.

Seems like a lost season for him, unfortunately. Not only the season, but he also lost the offseason (as much as it was) to work on his game.
Yup. Not a complete redshirt year but can’t reasonably expect much improvement this year. Hope we can at least get the Q12020 Romeo for the duration.

This is a big summer for him.

So another 10-14 days for Romeo?
It's unclear but apparently he's not traveling with the team so he's going to miss the road trip (BRK and HOU).

However, it sounds like he's been putting in work: https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2021/03/boston-celtics-romeo-langford-enters-nba-health-and-safety-protocols.html

Langford has missed the first 36 games of the regular season after undergoing surgery on a broken wrist back in September. He has been progressing through plenty of on-court rehab in the past few weeks ahead of games, leading him to be fully cleared this week.
“He’s been looking great,” Marcus Smart said Wednesday. “He’s been putting the work in day in and day out. I know it sucks, it’s been six months since he played and been able to practice with us and things like that. That’s tough, especially when he’s the only one in the gym, having to work by himself and seeing everybody else working together and doing things like that. He’s dedicated himself to the work and I think it’s going to show up out there.”

I posted this in the other thread as well, but he's basically this season's Rob Williams. I swear (prior to this year) every time there was an opportunity for Rob to get extended minutes, he would come down with something.

He was last year's TL too.

Looks like he's been cleared for practice (not sure if that is a different categorization than to be in a game)

The last guy Smart praised based on practice was PP, so I’m going to allow myself to dream. Player development is weird.

One thing I will say, I forgot until I rewatched his highlights how good a defender Langford is. He has seriously elite potential on that end.

It really is tough luck given our post-ASB expectations. You’d have thought he’d be extra cautious during the break, but it’s a reminder that these guys are young and have families.

Today is the 12th missed day since he entered the health and safety protocol on March 10th. He would have been eligible to start monitored individual workouts after sitting out 10 days and we haven't heard anything about that happening. I hope this isn't a sign that he was hit hard by the virus.

He must have actually had it, right? Because if it was just contact with someone he’d have come back after a few negative tests, right? Must be the same for TT?

That’s certainly where I’ve landed. For some reason when it was announced I assumed a precautionary exposure quarantine. I’m not doctor, but at this point the only thing that makes sense was a positive test for both...hopefully a quick recovery without long term effects!

C’mon guys, we’re talking about Langford, how could he have not contracted covid after exposure?

I hope the kid's OK. This probably means he has symptoms, and we've seen how that affected Tatum.

Hey it's Romeo. You nearly gave me a heart attack."

Interesting long article on Romeo in the Glob: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/03/30/sports/celtics-guard-romeo-langford-cleared-return-after-bout-with-covid-19/?camp=bg:brief:rss:feedly&rss_id=feedly_rss_brief&s_campaign=bostonglobe:socialflow:twitter

Some promising stuff here, such as (since I know peeps are interested):
Last year Mazzulla worked extensively with Langford to improve the mechanics of his jump shot. For Langford, who made just 5 of 18 3-pointers last year, the shooting sessions this year have been focused on repetition, but there have been no significant tweaks to his form or approach.
“The thing with him has always been his shot,” Mazzulla said. “And I think there are two types of shooters: guys that are really good making shots in practice settings and guys that are able to translate it to the game. I don’t know if it’ll translate or how long it’ll take, but I do know he’s a better shooter than even he thinks he is and what he has shown to this point. It’s a matter of having the confidence and mind-set to translate it to the game.”

My memory is vague since it seems like 5 years ago but I do recall feeling that Langford was making a baby leap last year prior to the shut down. It seemed like the game was beginning to slow down for him. It will be interesting to see where he is.

Apropos of nothing. I remember Joe Maxzulla dribbling a basketball wearing nothing but diapers as a 2-year old at Rainone Gym in Johnston,RI after one of our Sunday morning league games. Damn, come to think of it I remember when his Dad told me that his girlfriend was pregnant with him! I feel real old now.

What were you then, about 8?

His season ending injury occurred shortly after he entered the game, halfway through the first quarter, in game 2 of the ECF. So Brad agreed with you that he was making a positive contribution.

I read Walton's book recently. His health has been even worse than I thought. He blew his knee out in highschool, didn't walk for almost two years after back surgery, finally got out of his house after all that and a kid on skateboard ran him over breaking his pelvis.
