Do I sense...optimism?
Big picture in 2024 not really. This whole season is basically being sabotaged and thrown away by the fact we can't fire Hackett. I mean anybody outside the bubble most fans just retreat back in to when faced with that reality have a good idea how this story ends on offense. We already saw it in Denver 2022.

But in the short term and as far as making the team more potentially enjoyable to watch for at least stretches in 2024? After we sign Bakh and draft whatever tackle is there at 10 the GM did the best job he realistically could imo to fix the line and set Rodgers up for 2024. He did good and gets a passing grade from me.

Since this is the Jets thread, and therefor not technically trolling, I'll also say this. After 20 years I can't stress how weird it feels right now to no longer truely believe we are the most dysfunctional and broken team in this division anymore. Like reading through the outsides threads here just feels wild in a feels like I'm stepping in a time machine type of way.

Wow. Smith only got 6.5M guaranteed with 13.5M via incentives. I was expecting that to be a lot more.

That he ends up choosing *us* in what I'm assuming had to be an equally competitive market at that price feels even more strange.

Don't have the details on what it would take to earn the additional incentives? Probably revolves around Rodgers shredding his other Achilles. Not likely to happen, so those incentives won't count against the cap until after the fact.

This makes me less hostile towards that signing choice.

Still would have preferred to see us better acknowledge the elephant in the room though. Rudolph/Dobbs/Hunter were younger guys out there that come with at least some lottery ticket appeal. Ya know, the event week 1 rolls around and it's like .......oh yeah, this is what a 41yo QB not named Tom Brady is SUPPOSED to look like. Guess we don't have any firm answer at QB figured out after all.

Just gonna point this out as the guy screaming last year that abandoning the rebuild to make a desperation play for Rodgers was simply reaching yet another level of Jets Stupid:

Imagine what this 2024 Jets team could look like right now with Russ/Fields locked in for less then $5m combined, a real OC, no Lazard, 2 extra 2nd rounders, and another $50m+ to spread around.

All Woody had to do was wait another year to fawn all over a guy's ego in way Tomlin never would. Russ would've of ate that crap up.

I won't ever cry too much about a 1 year dear deal on a non-QB, but the potential upside here is more wish casting based then reality. Tyron Smith was a great signing, but I drew the "I'm good with you missing 5+ games" line at him. I'd have preferred a more reliable Boyd if the money ends up being similar. Or probably OBJ if he comes in at half the cost.

Basically making the same mistake here we made last year imo when we should have signed Meyers instead of Lazard. Taking the under on a 29yo and fresh off an ACL tear Mike Williams reaching any of his career average metrics in the Hackett Offense.

Weren’t these used the last several seasons or am I on helium?
No, just last year

edit: they were used on the opener and the Chiefs game and maybe one or two others as the alternate (like Pat Patriot) but we had not been using it that way prior to last season.

What is the difference between the new ones and these?

Edit: is it just the sleeves?

Edit 2: looks like no more New York across the front too, and a new collar. It’s a definite improvement. Not huge changes but the subtle changes make a big difference

Ugh, going back to the 63-77 white helmet/Broadway Joe/Flash Gordon look was the best decision this team has made in the last 50 years. Green helmet will always be Ken O’Brien. Would not bang.

Yeah I’ve never understood the hate for the white helmet jet uniforms, they could have stood to be modernized, but the 90s jets look is very arena football to me.

also I think the collars on these look horrible haha

Parcells wanted that change back to the Namath era logo white helmet and Dark Green.

Quite the opposite from his time in New England. They switched the color scheme from Red to Blue, but ended up getting Flying Elvis in the process.

Not a fan of the stripes at all. My kids don't like them either.

Not an upgrade imo.
They are an updated version on these beauties and I thank Woody, peace be upon him, for giving me what I have wanted for years:

The team looked great wearing these last year.
