Well Rich did rap. He just did it in the more common style that is on the radio today, which somewhat skews the line, as opposed to Wallach, who used a classic beat from Eric B. & Rakim.

Rich's was freaking awesome. I almost felt bad for Wallach at the end of it.

Wallach's was so bad, 3/4 of it made no sense.

This thing is Rich's to win. It's really Rich vs the Field at this point. This is so in his wheelhouse it's not even funny. Well, actually, it's very funny. II was laughing my ass off on Rich's piece. So far so good.

I'm not shocked, mainly b/c Rich had been talking it up and Tony is actually a pretty clever guy. Must be his excellent college education.

I'm enjoying this bit on the first time through, I'm wondering if the 2nd round might not be as interesting. Still, it's impressive that they were able to pull this all together and get the whole station to buy into it, Felger's (funny) complaining yesterday notwithstanding.

This has been pretty funny. Adolfo's mangling every other word in his rap was awesome. "I'm gonna grid you into paste."

So far I've heard raps by Rich, Wallach, Mazz and Adolfo. Have I missed anyone?

I'd like to see the words written out for Mazz'. Actually for all of them. I'm trying to think who else is gonna have the skills to put up a battle besides Fred.

I'm only halfway through it and half to run, but this podcast with Rich is really well done. He does a good job explaining his motivations, how he approaches the job, and how he felt about the transition from WBCN to The Sports Hub. Worth the listen, especially if the 2nd half is as good as the first.

That's a good listen, although the first few minutes were a bit slow. Rich seems driven to succeed and has such a fear of failure (not a bad thing) that he'll never mail it in. He also went out of his way to say some nice things to say about Jon Wallach, which was surprising considering how they treat him on the show at times. :p

"you don't get to four bills by holding the gravy"
"two greshes one cup"

Gresh's was really good but I think Felger's was just that much better

Felger's was great...but I actually think GRESH was a little more original. GRESH had more of a variety of insults.

This contest has been a big success thus far. Can anyone ever imagine the hosts at EEI partaking in something "fun" like this? This is one of the reasons why TSH crushed it in the last ratings book. It's an overall more entertaining station...I've laughed more listening to 98.5 over the past 2 years than I did listening to EEI the previous 5 years.

I thought both of those were absolutely outstanding, but I was absolutely pissing myself during Felger's. That was the most unexpectedly hysterical bit I've ever heard, and he did a good job downplaying expectations going into it.

No matter what happens from here on out, this morning made the contest a unrequited success. Kudos to The Sports Hub.

I nearly drove off the fucking road listening to these raps this morning. Both Gresh and Felger fucking killed it. I actually think I laughed more at Gresh, especially his last line, "Suck it Felger!" That slayed me for some reason.

This station is so far and away better than WEEI it's ridiculous. The way everyone at TSH has so willingly jumped into this contest is awesome. I can't imagine the same would be true with grumpy fucks like Gerry Callahan, et al.

In there
Felger wins solely for ripping on Gresh about his annoying use of football terminology. It's one of the things I dislike most about Gresh and part of the reason I can't listen to his show for more than 5 minutes.

Two really solid raps (does your shirt fit? No do your pants fit? No) and a little Crash to top it off. Great show today.

URI holla!
I thought that was the best line "You think your NFL but really just URI" because I have heard (I think it from Pete Sheppard on EEI now that I think of it) that he really gets pissed off when this is mentioned because he really acts like he knows football like he played in the NFL but was only a backup at URI.

Sheppard was really tooling on him for the a few years ago because Pete was joking around with him at Comcast and Gresh just went off.

Both today were absolutely fantastic.

Where did this idea come from? Was there any on-air setup for it or did Rich just announce it one day?

I've had "Even your eyelids have cellulite" stuck in my head all morning.

I think Gresh had much better insults, but Felger's was just funnier.

I loved the URI dig. Gresh talks about his playing career more than Zolak, who actually played big time college & pro ball. For the life of me, I cannot comprehend how Andy has gotten multiple radio gigs. He's so terrible that I'm assuming he must have some naked pictures of a radio executive with some pull.

they were both pretty good, Zolak really committed to it which made his fun. I'm not sure if round 2 of this will stand up, but it's been a fun thing in a relatively slow time period

Fred's was a much better rap, but Zo's completely fit his personality of a gigantic ADD manchild.

and given what Bertrand was selling this morning about Felger's rap being written for him by someone witty who isn't on the show, it's clear that Felger's fav caller Mike from Attleboro wrote that rap, which explains why it was not terrible

And yet to me the whining and ratting out makes this like a judy blume book and not grown adults having fun. I get that felger is a prick but I don't care, I hope Bertrand gets fucked by a post hole digger for being such a piece of shit and feeling so great about outing Felger.

yeah it's all rather silly, especially since it's apparently because felger disgareed with him on air in a harsh way, bertrand had been doing so well as Felger's foil, too.

That said, it's really not a big deal who wrote the rap, i was assuming they were all getting help anyway, it's just amusing that Felger had a listener write his and that it came out that well

That's really my point. Bertrand basically said "felger was mean to me!" As his reason to rat him out.

Toucher vs Rich and Felger vs Mazz in round 2 would be awesome. I hope the DA / Jimmmy Stewart one is close so they don't make it to round 2.

I love the Jimmy Stewart as a serial killer side story that's coming out of this. The tweets this morning were cracking me up with Zo: I'm going to get Jimmy Stewart to kill Fred etc.

I claim no anonymity marc. I'm not that smart but probably would have used a better handle than my actual name. Meanwhile you waited for Felger to go on vacation to be a weeping rat. Just tell the guy to his face and don't act like you scored dirt on the prom queen.

Bertrand if you're still reading cheer up buddy, people actually like you here...don't be so literal about it, 'twas just a line.

But if you're willing to arrange a post hole digger raping of Mazz the next time he brings up Teixeira send me a PM.

DA did a really good job getting on Steward in today's round, this has been a really amusing contest and I'm looking forward to both of the matchups that will be going next week, Fred vs DA will probably be really funny

I could get behind all this. I like Bertrand quite a bit. While I thought it was... odd that he chose a time when Felger wasn't there to out him, I don't think it's that big a deal. I laughed pretty hard at the post-hole digger line and am somewhat surprised he took it so hard.

Lastly, I think we should all support post-holing Mazz any time he brings up Teixeira, frankly in any context.

I liked how Fred tooled on Bertrand a bit this morning for trying to get Felger DQ'd from the competition, saying how Bertrand basically follows Felger around like a puppy dog.

I've never had an issue with Bertrand and think he is a great addition to F&M, but it was a bit of a bitch move.

To be clear, I don't actually hope anyone has any accidents with landscaping equipment (though I am also on board with the Mazz-Teix bit). If I cared as much as implied I would have put more thought into a real joke rather than a 5 seconds worth of thought cornholing joke on an internet message board. If I knew or thought Bertrand or one of his buddies were reading, I would at least have tried to come up with something witty.

I will own that I made a stupid over the top remark that comes off as exceptionally harsh and my tone may have been informed that I made the post while sitting in non moving bumper-to-bumper traffic on I-95 because the state decided to wait until after the 5 inches of rain to send out the "clear the storm drains on the highway" team.

For the record, in general I like Bertrand and thought he did great in Mazz's place.

What I really don't understand at the end of the day is how Gresh got crushed. His rap was really good (I voted for him) and I thought it would be 60/40 at worst, either way.

I have to think the voting was influenced a bit by popularity. Gresh may have deserved to win, but Felger is exponentially more well-liked.

I can't stand fucking stand Gresh and didn't really like his rap, it was good at first and then after hearing it a few times I thought it sucked. IMO, it came off as overly angry and wasn't fun or all that funny. When Felger was ripping on Gresh and Toucher on Zo, they were taking personal swipes but they weren't over the top.

I was shocked that Gresh only got 18% of the vote though, my guess is that a lot of Felger fans voted for him more than once, but his rap was also better.

Just quoting this because I don't think any sentence has ever more perfectly described GRESH. Overly angry, not fun and not funny. Perfect. (Though I actually did like his rap.)
