I attended a basketball camp where he was one of the pros...he was a really nice guy. Always thought it a shame that he couldn't seem to control the off the court issues.  RIP Roy.

Great team they had in '88, Tarp and Detlef on the bench, Alford as the 12th man. Pushed the Lakers to 7 just like the Pistons

Tarpley was a great rebounder of the ball, but a lousy rebounder from the 8-ball.

So sad. He was one of my favorite non-Celtics players at that time. Won sixth man of the year in 1988. Seven-footer who could do it all--the sky was the limit with this guy. Another casualty from that 1986 draft.

Started following Tarpley at Michigan, on the same team with The General (Gary Grant), The Judge (Antoine Joubert), and freshman Glen Rice.  That was a crazy team.  RIP

Always wondered if Tarpley could have been Tim Duncan-esque. Incredible talent. That '88 team I have always had a soft spot for. Aguirre, Blackman, Schrempf, Tarpley, Harper. Extremely talented.
