That D will be terrifying. Already really good, with talent at all three levels. They don't have nearly the OL talent of those early Ryan Jets teams though.

Between here and everywhere.
Wow. So basically he's putting himself into the same exact position he was in when he took over the Jets.

This guy really can't help himself from tripping over his own feet.

The NFL is a better with Rex coaching in it.  I think he is overrated as all get out, but he is fun and outspoken and the league needs more coaches like him.

Glad he is back in the AFC East.  This makes Bills games 100x more interesting for sure.

That's a lot of money for a guy who can't develop a QB on a team that sorely needs one. Real head scratcher.

I am still not here to kiss BB's rings this time around, even though that's what my overall record says at this point.

Wow. We'll continue to see him at least twice a year.

Good for Buffalo. That D is shaping up to the point where it could challenge just about anyone.

I get SJH's comments.  That said, I would have preferred to see Rex out of the division.  The whole side show and drama around him is more than a bit tired.

That defense is going to be scary good with the talent he has on the line.  However, Rex's QB situation is very bad as this franchise has not shown the ability to draft the right guy.  If they ever solve that this team might be a real adversary.

Bills usually keep their coaches for 2-3 years at most. I think this is a good move for Rex but I wonder if he gets as much rope in Buffalo as he did in the Meadowlands.

He has gone 18-30 over the last 3 years.  He won 4 games this year.  Despite this, he just got an NFL head coach job and $27.5 million.  He didn't trip over his feet, he coated them in the fine, luxurious, oil of Jets fan tears and is getting the Bills to slowly lick it off.

His teams have played the Pats tough and he knows the division inside out. Its a good hire for the Bills who aren't exactly a hot destination.

But Rex is in a bit of a corner with the draft. The Watkins trade last year means he's out his 1st and 4th round picks.

Wouldn't be surprised if they made a play for Cutler.

Agreed - he's going to go after Cutler

Here
I think it's a decent hire, but the number and years seem like pure insanity. I'm sick of the whole act as it pertains to the Pats, but I will probably enjoy his comments towards the Jets.

Also, if the Bills want to throw away 2 years of a good/great defense with Jay Cutler and his cap hit, please please have at it. I'd rather draft a QB in the second and third rounds and hope one hits.

What's Rex going to do now that he has to get his teams up for 4 games a year (2 v NE, 2 v the Jets?).

IThe Buffalo games are going to be very tough next year regardless of what he does with the QB.

Didn't he and Trestman want to be a package? If so, cutler is a tough sell.

They were going to be tough regardless of who was coaching. So much talent on D.

Also, Rex/Schwartz is a match made in heaven.

Don't understand when they already had Scwartz doing a very good job with the D. Let Scwartz call the plays and hire a HC that can develop a real offense.

Hoo-hoo-hoo hoosier land.
Greg Roman, eh? Certainly fits Rex's offensive "philosophy," but I'm not sure his offense is going to be successful without a great run blocking line, which the Bills currently lack. They desperate need competent quarterbacking, and I'm not sure where that's coming from.

Patiently waiting for SJH and TonyC to pop in on this thread as they basically speak for me on the topic of Rex. I for one and looking forward to Rex taking a top D down to the bottom 20 in the league over however long he lasts on this crazy contract. Theoretically buying low on a guy costs Buffalo 5m+ per year?

$27 million is tripping over his own feet? Sign me up for that sort of ineptitude.

I think he's an idiot for picking Buffalo over Atlanta.

1) The NFC South is hot garbage, and I don't see it being all that much better in 2015.
2) Rex would have inherited one of the best QB/WR combinations in the NFC, and as a result, could spend the majority of his energy rebuilding the defense, which can only get better.
3) The Bills do not have a 1st Round pick in 2015 (due to the Watkins trade). The Falcons have the 8th pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Maybe the Falcons weren't interested.  But if they were, that would have been my advice to Sexy Rexy.

After Marrone, a glue like Ryan is as good a get as any. Pray Bills don't get a real QB or it is going to be a lot tighter AFCE next year.

Bills management sealed the deal when Rex found out that Buffalo has a Dave & Busters.

His best bet is to convince Orton to come back until they resolve the QB situation. Cutler would be a good fit as having a cannon is paramount in the cold weather.

Yeah I thought Atlanta was his best landing spot, but guess he couldn't play BB two times a year there. This is fine for entertainment value, and probably a modest upgrade over Marrone, but Bills didn't really need defensive help and if he doesn't get that offense fixed, which isn't his string suit, he's probably done as a head coacjh

Was Atlanta offered to him?  If so, maybe the $$ were better in Buffalo.

Greg Roman's unimaginative play calling should be a perfect complement to the guy who wants to hit'em in the mouth and run it down their throats in the era of high-flying, pass first offenses.

There's new ownership now, so who knows how that's going to shake out.
