Packers QB Aaron Rodgers: "The next great chapter of my life is being a father." Says he was concerns that the vaccine would make him sterile were a factor in his decision. "I'm not some sort of anti-vaxx, flat-earther."

Long story short is he did his own research, didn’t like his options, didn’t like the protocols and did what he wanted.
BS he did his own research. His comments make himself out to be a conservative who did not want the vaccine and is backtracking because he got caught breaking protocols.

Well, he’s some sort of anti-vaxxer.

Wonder how many writers he employed to get that “last nail in my cancel culture coffin” zinger.

I dont know about his politics, nor do I care. His comments make him out to be "I'll clean this electrical outlet with my tongue" stupid. Chalking it up to his politics gives him more credit than he is due. He is a fine football player. But he is a moron.

Someone should remind Rodgers that scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed does not constitute “doing research”.

I don't care what his politics are either. I just have so little respect for his actions and him taking any accountability for it.

Aside from the people he's putting at risk, the reaction to his "defense" should be howling laughter.

This has nothing to do with politics and I agree. He’s not at fault at all. He’s right so fuck everyone else. He’s afraid of an approved vaccine and is eating horse paste?

It's not cancel culture, it's consequence culture. When you're a public figure playing word games and flaunting mandated requirements in the face of a virulent and deadly illness, and you get caught doing so, then, yes, you should expect to be called out on that behavior. I couldn't care less if Aaron Rodgers likes eating clay, snorting crystals, or doing anything else idiots do in lieu of actual medicine. But his behavior doesn't just affect himself, but everyone around him. People who may have immunocompromised members of their family. Or children too young still to get vaccinated.

And it's not like he won't still be an NFL QB this year or next. His only punishment will be maybe a weak fine and some tsk-tsking in the media. He'll get off lightly, despite his protestations, because he'll still be a white star athlete, with all the privilege that confers.

Just catching up, and I'm near belly laughing over this. I've never seen someone voluntarily and unnecessarily out themselves as being such a complete moron. And I'd say the public perception of him up to this point was probably the opposite.

He's essentially the NFL version of Kyrie now.

Edit: He also said that he's following Joe Rogan's advice. LOL
"I consulted a good friend of mine, Joe Rogan, and I've been doing a lot of the stuff he recommended in his podcast."

His McAfee interview was basically a Bolsonaro presser. What in the fuck? But at least I'm getting a good dosage of schadenfreude that Rodgers is actually the guy the cool kids on Twitter have assumed Brady was all along.

My reaction was that he's too good to be Pipped and that's really more for average players, and I got wondering about who is the best player in any sport to be Wally Pipped?

Gotta be Bledsoe, right?
Kurt Warner by Bulger?

I'm not a huge football guy so I'm not sure if Warner was pipped.

If you can’t rely on Joe Rogan for medical advice, where else can you turn?

How much of a selfish, narcissistic asshole do you have to be to put the whole franchise in this predicament? Now from the ball boy to the head coach, everyone will have to spend the rest of the season answering questions on your dumbfuck behavior. God forbid AARON RODGERS just gives out generic answers on a sensitive subject in his weekly appearance on a fucking YouTube talk show. Gotta be the star of the party. What a dick.

Well, he was on jeopardy and now in jeopardy, so he’s ok due to double jeopardy

Calling the medical professional sent to talk to the team a “stooge” and accusing the league office of collusion and coercion is going to put him in the crosshairs of more than just the woke mob.

Wasn't there a COVID breakout on GB? Didn't Adams and others get COVID-19? Isn't it possible Rodgers gave these guys COVID when he was running around skirting the policy?

Martyrdom is a lot less physically taxing than football. And, as PT Barnum reminds us every day, there's a comfortable living to be made there, as well.

Ignoring the political aspects of this (but what fun would that be?), he violated NFL protocols put in place to protect fellow players, coaches and employees, and to minimize distruption of the season. If he didn't want to take vax, and then sat out games if he could not do that in a way that complied with NFL protocols, that's his choice, and that's OK.

But he didn't do that. So he's an ass.

Not that I want to appear to be defending Rodgers, but hasn't he wanted out of GB for a while anyway? Seems like he doesn't give two shits about how this impacts the organization and that should come as no surprise. The surprise is that the organization appeared to go out its way to enable him (not following protocols, etc).

I’ve heard of shooting your way out of town, but never coughing your way out.

Rodgers must’ve been a peach at Berkeley.

Seems like if fertility was his major concern, he (and his fiancée) have more than enough resources to freeze samples/eggs as a contingency plan.
