A Scud Away from Hell
One of our very best, beloved SoSH member and a BbtL stalwart dcmissile has past away recently.

A thread for him has been posted in a members only section for awhile. Thanks to @Ed Hillel, we're doing the same here.

He was incredibly knowledgeable and articulate about not only football but politics and countless other subjects.

Personally, he was always kind to me, first as a lurker then as a member. I was always happy and honored to have him reply to one of my posts. I'm also sure I wasn't the only one who learned from & appreciated his wisdom and kindness.

Rest in peace, Bruce. You're already dearly missed.

I will miss him. I never interacted with him directly but I read, enjoyed and respected his posts. We have lost a great one.

Nobody Cares
DC was one of the truly great posters in the SoSH universe. This hurts as much as losing someone you've never met can hurt. A devastating loss for his family, and our little community. May his ample soul rest in peace.

Oh damn. That's horrible to hear. I was just thinking that we hadn't heard from him for a while in V&N. I hadn't imagined that it was for the worst possible reason. My condolences to his friends and family.

Shit, the obituary shows that he had four kids. We miss him here; can only imagine how his family feels. RIP.
One of his kids was going to one of the service academies. He used to discuss it in the paying for college thread.

dcmissle quote on SoSH -
I'll end my point with this: if we really want a civil society and healthier democracy, a great place to start is to stop demonizing each other. That obviously applies to every side in the debates.
This is who he was. A reasonable man. I miss him!

Very sorry to read this. This is an extended family for me in many ways. I hope his family finds peace and that consolation is sent from Above to all.

I mean this is a joke, right? I'm IDK stunned. He and I arrived at SoSH around the same time and we both live in the same area and had many good back-n-forths on the Pats. I had no idea.

I didn't know him outside this board. I just. IDK. Rest in Peace, DCM.

Oh man this is terrible news. I did not see this in members only. dcmissile was a lot of fun to have back and forth discussions on football. He will be greatly missed on this forum. My condolences to his family.

I saw this and posted in the P&G thread a couple of weeks ago, but I think it's only fitting I post in here on Father's Day, as I have no doubt from the content and tone of his posts that dcmissle was one hell of a father. This is terrible, sad news. He'll be missed here.

He was a fantastic poster. He made it more fun to be a football fan and I am really bummed about this.

I enjoyed him as a poster for so very long, in particular on the back-and-forths around Deflategate.

He will be missed and I'm sorry I never really got to know him outside of threads here.

DCM was one of the guys that really stepped up his game when we tried to make BBTL more sophisticated. He and I exchanged plenty of PMs, and he was...well, just a good fucking guy. I've tried to figure out what to type for days, and all I can come up with is: this is so fucking sad.

I've been a lurker here since 2003. I lurk because I usually don't feel like I have anything to say that hasn't already been said - and said better than I could ever hope to convey - by others, but I come here every day. DCM was one of the regulars I not only recognized, but enjoyed reading. I can't count how many times I would read a post filled with insight and good humor, look to the left, and see his name. He was a constant, consistent positive presence.

Heartfelt condolences to his IRL family and his extended family here on SOSH.

Nightslyr, this is a great post - and much better than I could have done.

RIP dcmissle, and thoughts and prayers to all who knew and loved him!

Retired in 2017. Passed after a brief battle with cancer.

Goodness. If recent events have shown us anything, it’s that life is too short and unpredictable to not relish every day that you’re given. Every day is a gift.

Thoughts and prayers for his family. Rest easy, Bruce.

How deeply sad. He brought so much to the site, and I find the outpouring here from the rest of you to be a meaningful tribute to a life well lived. Thinking of him and his family today, tomorrow and the ones after that.

Sucks. Didn't know him outside the board, but I know we've interacted over the years.

If there is a SoSH Wall of Honor he's on it.

This one sucks a lot. We didn't always agree, but he was a pleasure to interact with and very easy to disagree and debate with. In a world where chaos and emotions run rampant, he seemingly kept it together through most everything. He was a staple here; if you asked me to name ten people I'd associate with BBtL ten different times, he'd appear each time.

Rest easy, dude. I'm sure, wherever he is, he's enjoying the highlights of his favorite team, most notably Superbowls XXXV and XLVII.

:)
