Smart call.

Thursday September 7th slots perfectly as a makeup for Sunday, before the next (and last) home series with the Rays. common off-day, and we have an off-day that following Monday anyways

Double on 9th makes more sense

Plus we have concluded that the least time in Cleveland the better in other threads

The Tigers case was a game played at its original time. To move Sunday's game time, the Rays would have to agree
I agree but as it was stated last August: "The Red Sox tried to get the Tigers to push the start time back to late afternoon or evening when the times were set in the offseason. Major League Baseball said the Tigers could start the game whenever they wanted to, and Detroit refused to accommodate the Sox."

That's a 110 minute flight not Seattle
What's your point? That a team that regularly comes to Boston during the season should compromise their itinerary for the sake of possibly getting a game in during May?

Which just re-enforces what I said about the Detroit game being played at its regularly scheduled time. I don't see why you find this so difficult to understand.

What's your point? It's a short flight, shorter than going to Tampa

"Compromise their itinerary" is a bit much, even for you.

Ask the Tampa players, if they'd rather spend 2-3 hours in Boston or Cleveland.

It wouldn't be a big deal to move the game to 4 pm on Sunday. It's a 6:10 start in Cleveland on Monday and they'd get into Cleveland around 11 on Sunday night.
If there are no weather delays or extra innings. Hey, if the Rays give the go-ahead, then why not. But get-away days are an entirely different animal than mid-series games

If the Sox kept the Sunday start time at 1:35 and the teams had to sit around waiting for the rain to stop and the field to be prepped for almost 3 hours, their itinerary would be just as messed up as agreeing to a 4 PM start, right? Seems preferable to agree to a delayed start to avoid being forced to wait in the dugout/clubhouse. Of course they'd need to feel reasonably certain about the forecast.

Isn't there some kind of lame deal where they can only push the start time so far with Sunday night baseball?

PS what are they doing with people in Bl 34 and 35?
Presumably the inventory they normally use in 36 to move people to is gone too

In the past, they've handed out dark colored shirts to people in those sections to at least somewhat mimic the batter's eye tarp they cover the seats with.

Since Sunday is not the last visit of the Rays to Fenway, the decision to play the game is in Boston´s hands no? If so, they can simply decide to wait until it stops raining, or wait forever to call the game.

I don't think they've done that in a while. I had tickets for there ALDS G2* last year that was sold as night and moved to day. We were offered an exchange to G1 (which moved to night...I believe) or told we could use SRO or get a refund...IIRC.

I'm going home
Since everyone seems to know that Saturday's game is at 1:05, and the rest of the conversation is not worthy continuing, this thread will now say goodnight.

Just to be clear, if folks want to talk about travel/scheduling and the impact it has on teams, that's fine. Start a thread about it, could definitely be interesting. The part that I referred to as not worthy of continuing was the useless sniping back and forth that led to multiple reports which quite frankly don't make anyone look particularly good, and aren't worth any more headaches.
