That does seem peculiarA player opt-out for someone 38 years old? OK whatever if he exercises it.
At half the cost. This is a solid move at this price. So basically a JD for JT trade.
JD just got 1/10At half the cost. This is a solid move at this price.
Right. I meant basically replacing his production for half of his last year cost.JD just got 1/10
Probably know Bloom is desperate and in the realm of "why not ask"?Solid deal; they needed a lefty masher and he certainly qualifies, although he’s certainly at the age where further decline is expected, but the dollars seem reasonable. Hopefully he’s competent at first base.
Opt out is weird, maybe it’s to protect the player who may not be 100% convinced in direction of team? Total speculation.
His beard makes him look youngerSolid addition, good price.
The most surprising thing to me is realizing that Turner is 38. Would have guessed 34, tops.
He’s hiding 3 chins in his beardSolid addition, good price.

I mean, does this really change the outlook of the team? It's nice we added a player, but I'd hardly call this an impact move. It's fine. I'd have the same reaction if they brought JD back.Very nice signing. Now everyone should chill out a minute.
I realize I'm likely in the minority here, but I haven't really let go of the 2020 World Series incident. He seems really likable too, which I dig.
It's a nice signing, but this team was not one 38-year old DH away from competitiveness.Very nice signing. Now everyone should chill out a minute.
Yeah, I have been thinking about that, too. Hey, he was only 36, so maybe he's grown up some since then.I realize I'm likely in the minority here, but I haven't really let go of the 2020 World Series incident.
I hope he mashes, though.
Same. Lost a ton of respect for him.I realize I'm likely in the minority here, but I haven't really let go of the 2020 World Series incident.

Might have had to include it to beat other offers, I think Miami was also interested?I imagine he just got the option because he could and it helps the player for a variety of reasons (has a good year, doesn’t like Boston, etc).
Or, he simply hopes he can make even more money if he has a great season.Opt out is weird, maybe it’s to protect the player who may not be 100% convinced in direction of team?
Still plenty of time to make more impact moves. But yeah, Turner and Yoshida should both lengthen the lineup considerably over JDM and JBJ/Pham.I mean, does this really change the outlook of the team? It's nice we added a player, but I'd hardly call this an impact move. It's fine.
What if Bloom’s strategy is to add a collection of good players rather than one impact move? Could that be a path toward fielding a playoff team?I mean, does this really change the outlook of the team? It's nice we added a player, but I'd hardly call this an impact move. It's fine. Is this team allowed to make more moves after this one? It's a nice signing, but this team was not one 38-year old DH away from competitiveness.
2013.What if Bloom’s strategy is to add a collection of good players rather than one impact move? Could that be a path toward fielding a playoff team?
When they do, we may calm down.Is this team allowed to make more moves after this one?
I didn't see any of the 2020 WS. Can you tell me what he did?I realize I'm likely in the minority here, but I haven't really let go of the 2020 World Series incident.
I hope he mashes, though.
