I haven't seen or heard. Maybe they're waiting on the all clear from the doc still or something. Have to imagine it happens today unless he's going to stay in Boston for the weekend.
Sure, but the media needs some heads up and we're past 3:30 on a Friday. You gotta believe Price wants to get out of town tonight.

Meanwhile, many in Boston media are in the DR attending the Ortiz golf tournament.

That point has actually been discussed a few times, and since it basically says that the opt out was worth some unknown economic value to Price, it supports the position that it's for his benefit only.
The option has positive value for Price and negative value for the Red Sox, but the values aren't the same, or inverse. You can't value a "real option" like a "security option" because different people place different values on things like "being able to sleep at night." Put another way, a $127 million doesn't mean the same thing to Price and the Red Sox.

For sake of argument, say the probability of Price suffering a career-ending injury is 3%. Even though that's a small risk, the value of being guaranteed $127 million in 2019-22 is huge to Price, in part because Price's only source of income is baseball. To the team, however, a 3% risk of Price suffering a career-ending injury (or even the bigger risk of him simply sucking for seven years) isn't nearly as significant. They can, have, and will continue to pay players a ton of money for underperforming. You want to avoid it as much as possible, but it's the cost of doing business. To Price, an injury means "game over." To the Red Sox, it means "start over."

Ramirez and Sandoval are already a combined -4WAR and cost $42 million last year. Can the Red Sox overcome that amount of overpaid suckiness? Sure.

The most risky part of Price's contract is the final four years, when he's 33-34-35-36 years old. That's why the player option may actually be a blessing in disguise.

So that was the holdup today - who to DFA?

Ive been angry about how they've treated #24 since Duquette gave Dewey's number to Kevin freakin Mitchell

The holdup was Price coming to Boston for a physical. He came into town yesterday and took his physical. The tests were ready today then they had to dot the I's and cross the T's on the contract.

I guess they're putting Price's reputation of helping fellow pitchers right to the test by giving him the locker next to Porcello.

Yup, he appears thoroughly broken. Maybe he can fix himself somewhere else. It's a shame. Remember when we had two hot 3B prospects* and the question was which of them was going to be awesomer?

*Three, if you count Vitek. Remember him?
Well .. There's no guarantee he will be claimed. Rosters are in a state of flux right now so gambling on Cecchini might be a stretch

Price, when asked a tough question on his postseason record: "I guess I was just saving all my postseason wins for the Red Sox. I think you guys are gonna enjoy those." Awesome answer, I chuckled.
