from McAdam (http://www.csnne.com/boston-red-sox/red-sox-finalizing-deal-cuban-infielder-yoilan-cerse):

But the Red Sox view him as someone they can transform into a utility player, with the ability to play both infield and outfield.
Cerse is viewed by those who have scouted him as a good athlete with plus-speed and quickness. At this point, he doesn't profile as an everyday player, but rather, a role player who could become a real stolen base threat.
Cerse and his handlers held showcases in both Florida and Arizona this past spring training. A baseball source said approximately eight teams worked him out privately, including the Red Sox.
It's believed that having signed fellow countrymen Rusney Castillo and Yoan Moncada in the last 10 months helped the Sox land Cerse.
Signing bonus was supposedly minimal and he obviously wasn't subject to the usual Cuban bidding process or international FA bonus pool.

Not a lot of hype around this guy, but cheap talent is always good. Seems to have a good eye from his Cuban numbers.
