Daniel Nava is feeling left out by this thread.  It's been almost 30 minutes, people. :)

edit: link to a pretty spectacular layout catch.

I was hoping that would be the bump in this thread. Spectacular. The reaction by Victorino was hilarious when they replayed it last night.

Not here
I cannot wait until our infield is Bogaerts - Iglesias - Pedroia

And the outfield, at least at the start, is going to have JBJ in center and Victorino in right.

That's going to be some hellacious D.

There's a good chance we might soon see: Iggy - Drew - Pedey, with JBJ, Ells and SV behind them  That's some awesome leather.

You should probably just pencil in the backup RF (or starting LF playing RF) for  ~40% of those starts, because I don't know of any reason to expect Victorino to be less injury prone over the next two seasons, particularly with back issues.  If Victorino had a different last name, he'd be getting shredded right now.  I wouldn't want the WEEI-style mouthbreathing that Drew had to deal with being involved here, but I'm surprised that his frequent absences from the lineup/field are being glossed over so casually, given our recent experiences with player injuries.

The wrong side of the bridge....
Even throwing to first, Unhittium is a strike machine.

Also worth noting on that play is that the defensive substitution of Napoli turned out to really matter. Ortiz may be flexible enough to get down there and make that perfect tag, but I'm glad we didn't have to find out.

Ortiz has looked pretty spry, quick, etc. on first. I think he catches that throw over and makes the tag.

I don´t think I have ever seen Ortiz as pumped up as he was last night.  Between his reaction on the double, his constant banter on the field (which he doesn´t get to do during the season) and the pep talk that was caught on camera.  If he was on 1st for that play I am pretty sure he makes it.

Yes, it was cool to see a pumped up Ortiz reacting on the field to his team's pitching and defense, where normally he's in the dugout.

This was such a scary play by Drew. He probably should not have tried to make that flip... but I'm glad he did because we got to see Pedroia be awesome.

Unbelievable work by Dustin on that play. Not only to be so quick to react to get up and get it, but also to not jump too high so that he doesn't have time to get back down to the bag for the out. That's legit gold glove instincts there.

Somebody much more knowledgable than me ought to upload a gif of Lester's flip to Ortiz to nail Kozma and of Drew's 4th inning sky leap catch of the liner.

My pleasure Ferm.

There was a lot of debate the other night in the game thread about the pop fly that Ellsbury missed and whether a bird interfered in some way. What do you think?

I don't think so. That bird lands on the grass several feet behind him. I'm not sure it was in his sight line.
