If Miller is tied to this they could get a nice haul. Without him tied to it, it will be interesting to see what we get.
For Lackey? I'd expect more for him than Lester and Miller.

It should look every bit as gracious as the Lester thread, but it won't. The guy gave his body for the club, took serving after serving of shit from the fans, and still came back to help lead the club to the World Series last year, while embracing the city in the midst of a terrible tragedy, while being praised as an amazing teammate. Of course, he has a face that's easy to hate, so he'll be vilified.
Amen. When I found out he was pitching 2011 hurt, my opinion on him began to change drastically. 2013 just completed the turnaround.

Yeah, I'm not surprised its picking up--I don't get how trading Lester made it less likely Lackey went.
Well, I wouldn't say less likely. I think it just made more sense if he stayed. Having him just makes competing in 2015 a lot easier.

[twitter]alexspeier One source suggests Lackey to the cardinals appears close. But haven't confirmed.[/twitter]

Between Rosenthal, Heyman and Speier, looks like Lackey to Cards is more or less done.

He does deserve some flack for failing to appreciate that the $500K salary is a more than fair trade off for the total lack of productivity he gave for half the deal...to say nothing of the fact that it's the deal he agreed to.

I feel like the Marlins after winning a World Series.  It truly is insane.
It's definitely exciting...just...a new feeling. We're going to be fielding a radically different team next year.

EDIT:
I'd love if the Dodgers missed the playoffs. Just to fuck with them a bit.

I hear you--just considering everything we were reading yesterday, I don't see how anything changed to reverse course on that.

I will say, trading 4/5ths of the rotation in a week is really fascinating to me on a "what'd that be like?" level.

Turns out I was wrong anyway. Oh well.

Can you provide a source for this? Even if he's made comments about not wanting to pitch next year for the league minimum, you are ignoring the fact that the option year is an asset and that asset can be utilized in many ways, including as leverage in an extension. Seeking an extension that rips up the option is not being a douche bag. It's negotiating.

with Cespedes in right and Craig in left, do we assume that Victorino's removal last night portends an imminent DL trip?

Holy crap.  This is insane.

Kelly is under control for a long time, and has a ton of ability.  Craig provides more RH power.  Craig to LF, Cespedes to RF?  Or does Napoli go?  Geez, in the span of 24 hours, this team is going to look completely different.

Listening to WFAN in New York.  Joe and Evan are going crazy talking about the great job Ben is doing today.  Direct quote - "All hail the Boston Red Sox!  They are KILLING it!"

Not sure I share that level of enthusiasm, but thought I would pass along the New York reaction.

Come on, think BIG.  You wouldn't want Miggy?

disclaimer: I'm in no way saying that there's anything better than a one in a googolplex chance of the Tigers moving Miggy for anyone not named Mike Trout.

Seems uninspired with the reported frenzy on Miller.
First name mentioned and actual return can be very different. Morosi wasn't even sure if he's actually being discussed today.
