Just saw this...Maybe they don't like the potential return they are seeing with Miller?

Hearing there is resistance internally to trading Miller. Makes you wonder if they might deal Koji?

Come on, think BIG.  You wouldn't want Miggy?

disclaimer: I'm in no way saying that there's anything better than a one in a googolplex chance of the Tigers moving Miggy for anyone not named Mike Trout.
What if we pull a fast one?

We have this player...his name is Mike and his last name is a fish name. I think we both know who I'm talking about. We could do a one-for-one for Miggy. What do you say?

Seems uninspired with the reported frenzy on Miller.

Remember (and I love Miller's stuff) this is a 2 month rental (No QO therefore no comp pick)  of a 7th or 8th inning reliever, getting one top 100 prospect would be a great return.  It would be an absolute killing and taking advantage of the current system if the RS traded and then 3 months later resigned Lester and Miller.

That just seems silly after dealing Lester and Lackey.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, we can't trade that guy!""Lackewy
"Lester? Fine"
"Lackey? I don't love it, but ok."
"Miller?  Now there I have to draw the line!"

From Keith Law
someone likely to provide 200 innings and worth five to six wins above replacement a year, a pace Lester was going to surpass this year. Perhaps they(the Red Sox) can use this prospect depth to make a run at someone such as David Price, who's also under control for next year?

Pretty sure SOSH would melt down if that happened.

Eh, they got what they considered decent return on those guys. If it's not there for Miller, keep him around, sweet talk him, sign him.

Stark: Jays "close" to trading Price. Destination unknown.

Well, Rays, but yeah, that's interesting.

Makes the whole "Sox aren't giving up 2015" thing a bit more interesting.

EDIT: Rays pitched him last night too, instead of protecting him. THE RAYS THINK THEY ARE BIGGER THAN THE TRADE DEADLINE!

Wait, but I posted the text, not the URL.  Shouldn't he be able to read that?

What are the the LA Dodgers for $200, Alex?
I do not see any scenario in which they don't trade all of their top prospects to Andrew Friedman...beast of a deal for Tampa.

One thing these ex-Sox players can bank...all have been traded to serious playoff and potential WS teams (perhaps even Miller, if that Detroit rumor is true).

Peavy, Lester, Lackey (and maybe more)...

And fuck Doubront.

I'd be pretty pissed off trading Price as a Rays fan

Jokes about them not existing aside, yeah, pretty miserable existence. Nice prospect hauls and everything but it's hard not to look at them as a team that will always be spinning their wheels in the mud.

Full credit to the Sox FO -- whether or not you agree with the specific players they're getting, at least they are embracing the tear-down and trying to get as many useful pieces as they can.

How the Phillies have not been selling everything that's not bolted down is beyond me.  Maybe there are a lot of moves to come.
