I used to love reading Fire Joe Morgan and it's ages since I've enjoyed following a column so much as that one.

What are some good recommendations for baseball (general) and Red Sox websites that are away from the mainstream mediots, but not just vacuous or fanboy hot air streams, there must be some good columns and websites, what would you recommend if you could indeed be arsed

Over the last few years I've really enjoyed Grant Brisbee's stuff at sbnation. He isn't too analytical but he knows enough. He mostly writes stuff like this: http://www.baseballnation.com/home-run-ballpark-rankings. Its just him ranking at which ballparks homeruns look the best. Its light and fun and occasionally humorous. I should just mention that he is a San Fransisco Giants blogger, so he does write about them a lot. But his more general baseball writing is pretty fun. Here is a link to his stuff (if you don't want to read about the Giants disregard anything that mentions McCoveyChronicles)
