I needed a tackle to replace one year wonder Doug Free, so what the hell. I am flat out fucking LYING if I say i know anything about any player available at this point.

I assumed you'd slot in Bakhtiari there, but Turner's great depth as a guy that could potentially play anywhere but C.

I was going to pick him.  Looked at him last round, but wanted to fill the LB hole.  We'll add some C/G depth with

Russell Bodine C/G CIN

Scott Wells hasn't been the same since breaking his foot a couple of years ago, so Bodine may beat him out for the starting job at center.  Otherwise, he's good depth for our good but getting older guards.

The Ravens have taken vets with their last three picks, but we'll go back to the rookie pool and tab the real-life Ravens' third-round pick, TE Crockett Gillmore out of Colorado State.

Gillmore wasn't well-known playing in the Mountain West Conference, but burst on the scene with a terrific postseason. He led all players at the Senior Bowl with 5 catches for 63 yards and a TD; that was after excelling at the East-West Shrine Game and practices and being named a late addition to the Senior Bowl. Then he measured at 6'6" 260 at the Combine and finished in the top five in both jumping drills, showing his explosiveness. Like Troy Niklas, he's a converted DE that's still learning the nuances of the position, but he's got the size and mentality to be a fine blocker and good physical tools to factor in the receiving game. This TE class is shallow and I expected to ignore the position in the draft, but Gillmore's too good a value to pass up at this point.

Looking for a Run Stuffing DT to anchor our D-Line, the Green Bay Packers are taking DaQuan Jones, DT, out of Penn State/Tennessee Titans. Man is a wall against the run, and if he's not watched, is capable of collapsing a pocket.

Cedric Thornton, DE, Eagles.

A small school kid who made the Eagles as an UDFA in 2011 and cut his teeth in 2012, Thornton graded out as one of the top run stuffing 3-4 DEs in the league last year.  He doesn't offer much pass rush but I've got that in spades elsewhere so I'll happily add him as situational/rotational player on my line.

PM Sent to SPDougie.

Chargers select:

Joe Hawley, C

With a void to still fill at center I'll take Joe Hawley.  He started last year with all the injuries on the Falcons O-Line and is the favorite over Konz to win the job again this season.

Great pickup. He was on my short list. Almost snagged him last round, actually.

Nice pick. You've done some good work overhauling your interior OL this draft.

Thornton was my backup plan if Odrick wasn't available ... that was three rounds ago. Even with Odrick I thought seriously about adding Thornton each of the past two rounds. Terrific value this late.

Keep your head on a swivel because you're up in like 3-4 picks, with the one you stole from mascho's Sentinels. You're picking after MysticMerlin.

With this pick I'd like to add some depth to my secondary.

The Patriots select: Pierre Desir, CB Cleveland Browns

Desir dominated the competition in Div.II and performed well enough at the Senior Bowl to garner a lot of attention going into the draft. He has above average size at 6'1" 198 lbs with 33" arms and shows great athleticism on the field. He's a physical corner who's best in press-man coverage but can play zone even though he's still somewhat raw. He finished his college career with 25 INT's and 47 PD's. His senior year he posted 4 INT's and 6 PD's on only 14 pass attempts to the man he was covering.  He has ball-hawking instincts and excellent awareness and timing. I think he's the perfect nickel/dime corner to add to my rotation now with an incredibly high ceiling for the future.

OK, so I got a PM titled:

The 2013-14 World Champion Karachi Jaguars have made their first 6th round selection in this draft, which was not in their usual #32 spot, which they obtained by being the 2013-14 World Champions

Which is fucking awesome. Karachi sucks.

Onto the pick...

Honestly, the Bengal Bay Bengals have other needs that should be filled. But this guy has been at the top of the draft board at his position since the 2nd round and I figure I just can't go wrong adding high-potential targets for Tom Brady. Thus, the pick is:

Colt Lyerla, TE (Green Bay)

If this guy didn't have a ten-cent head, his million-dollar athletic ability would have made him the top TE available in this year's draft. Instead, Cokehead Lyerla went undrafted and then ended up with a real-life situation that will allow him to prove he's the best TE in this class. The Packers need a TE; this guy needed a chance. He'll probably win the starting job and so long as he keeps the coke and the off-field shenanigans to a minimum, he will be a fantastically productive 6th round RFP selection.

PM to Dgilpin on the way.

Getting back to our pick from earlier in the round, the Elcab Dolphins select Will Blackmon CB, JAX

After losing Dennard in the steal draft, we were left a little thin in the secondary, so we're going back to back with DBs. We got burned with too many rookies last year, so adding a veteran starting caliber CB at this stage in the draft will continue to help the team take another step towards making the playoffs next year.

Playing catch up here as well, the Saints select S Dion Bailey

Bailey bounced between safety and linebacker at USC.  He's showed good ball skills, and adds some depth to the safety position.

Sorry for the holdup over the weekend.

I'll take my drafting him way to early guy because the Patriots took him in Roy Finch, RB.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NbpwiA03UI

I'll continue to have a running back corp of guys that may or may not play any snaps at RB this season.

Keith Rivers, OLB, RL-Buf

I love that we just added Buf's starting SLB while the rest of you are throwing darts at guys who might not ever play a snap /trash-talk. Kidding aside (because let's face it we did the same shit earlier, right?) We are somewhat surprised Keith is still available. He's an average starter who is better at stopping the run. But he's an average starter and fills a hole. High floor low ceiling.

Our LB core is interesting. We have 3 LB's who can play the pass in coverage: Willis, Art Brown, and Jacquian Williams.
We have 3 LB's who can stop the run: Willis, Lawson, and now Rivers.

So our front 7 now has the following:

Pure DT/NT: Glenn Dorsey
DT/DE: Kyle D. Williams
Pure DE's: Charles Johnson, Carlos Dunlap, David Bass
LB/DE: Manny Lawson
Pure LBs: Patrick Willis, Keith Rivers, Jacquian Williams, Art Brown.

So 10 guys for 5-7 spots depending on what we're doing. I like it.

Just read the articles over at ESPN, and you're right. Don't know how they push Lawson into a situational role for Rivers but that's why they're the Bills.

Well, we have them both so as long as one of those guys gets enough snaps at SAM I don't really give a shit :D.

I probably won't be around my phone most of the day tomorrow, so feel free to skip me after DoDM picks, and I'll have it up tomorrow afternoon at the latest.
