I didn't have shit to do with that part of the rule

God DAMN it. This hurts more than losing Kenny Stills. Took a gamble on both and lost fuckety-fuck-fuck.

You'll see, you'll see.

At least you didn't gamble on your Left Tackle...

But he still has his kicker. Smart.

Yup, its a conspiracy to force you guys to pick a decent player off somebody's roster rather than some college schmuck who is likely to be a 6-7th rounder or UDFA in the NFL Draft.

You guys are worse than ESC with this whining shit.

I'd like to think I'm too old to whine. I look at it as complaining stubbornly and incessantly. I try to come across as more curmudgeon than baby.

(And I've been trying to pick my battles lately)

So with a below average offense and Rodney Hudson just being taken from me it'd be expected I'd go offense here.  Right?

Instead though I'm going to take the guy who channeled his former teammate when he called himself the "best slot corner in the league."

The San Diego Chargers select:

Walter Thurmond III, CB

Instead of filling holes I decided to take the top guy on my board.  Now, at least according to PFF, I have 3 of the Top 32 CB's in the league.  A big thank you to the Seahawks for this one.

Note: With Vick and Thummond taken, the Seahawks players are off limits.

Look, come on MMS, it is kind of funny we're the 6th team, right? Like - isn't that somewhat apropos? I'm not complaining here. But it IS somewhat amusing.

But you guys are the 7th team. Six teams pick after you guys. Rag is the last owner who has to pick a player and cannot choose an extra draft pick.

Fine by me.

Just a heads up- I'm on the west coast, so if Sat doesn't pick tonight, don't expect me to get a pick in before 10 or 11am EST at the earliest tomorrow.

You could send someone a proxy (if you have one). I'd volunteer but have an early meeting that usually takes a while.

The Saints had a black hole at RB, which was a waste as the OL was the lone bright spot on the team.  Here's hoping Montee Ball will be able to shore up the position.  He did well in limited action last season, and should be in line for many more touches this season.

Dolphins steal OLB Akeem Ayers from Eck's Patriots. I believe this is the 2nd player stolen from the Pats so far.

Sending Eck a PM now.

So, I dont think it would come to this, but if for some reason it gets to the final 2 picks today I am assuming we should wait for the Super Bowl result correct?

Whats the coloring on the spreadsheet mean?  Yellow all the way across means those players are off limits now, correct?

Whats the red mean by our names?

Yellow all across means off limits, I believe red indicates one player taken.

Yellow all the way across= all players off limits (team has had 2 players stolen already)

Red= Team has had 1 player stolen so far with 1 remaining player eligible to be stolen.

Yeah, that's what I figure.  If it comes to that it'll only be a matter of waiting a couple hours anyway.

I think Eck times out at 2pm.  I sent him the PM at 12:20am last night, so his 6 hour clock started at 8am. It says he read my PM at 7:30am so he should know he's on the clock.

The poor intern dispatched to the Owner's Office to let Snyder know he isn't on the clock just stopped to vomit in a trash can.  Since the name change Dan's been a bit...cranky.

He's online and viewing this thread so I think we'll get a pick soon.

Any idea how we want to deal with retired players on rosters?  I noticed at least one of my guys is retired which got me thinking about what the plan to deal with those situations are

I've spent the past week looking at the dreck we have to choose from. I think I've researched every single unprotected player at this point. I fucking loathe this part of the process, but you all know that.

The Patriots are going to take a flier on Shea McClellin, OLB stealing from the phraglescoops.

He's been a bust at DE, but the Bears are finally moving him to OLB where he should revitalize his career. Reports have him at 255 lbs running a 4.5 40. Since I lost Ayers I'd like to replace his athleticism on the outside.

Ayers was a great pick by the way, ElCab. I figured I'd lose one of my unprotected LB's since I had a lot of depth there.

I've been staring at that googledoc so long I think it's seared into my brain...

Who's next?

Thanks, Eck. I'm sure it hurt losing Ayers, he's a solid player. Hopefully his knee isn't an issue. One position we were weak last year was LB so I was pretty happy to find a playmaker opposite Clay Matthews and adding Ayers makes our LB unit look a lot better. TEN is moving to a 3-4 this year, so we'll get to see how he plays in a defense similar to the one I plan on rolling out.

So far the Dolphins have a front 7 of: Michael Johnson, Star Lotulelei, Cameron Heyward up front with Matthews, Dansby, Donald Butler and Ayers behind them. I'll take that.

I didnt really have that luxury since I didnt own the team then and it wasnt really being actively managed by the previous owner

In cases like this I'm more inclined to let you do some cleaning up then strictly adhere to the rules. It's obviously circumstantial and ad hoc but it wouldn't be fair to recruit you in and leave you DOA. What exactly did you have in mind anyway?

He should be granted a pardon to change the players the dropped. Bending the rules for the new guys is fine with me.

If the Browns wanted to do this I'd tell them to fuck themselves.

Thirded. We've all had a year+ to know our rosters up and down. He had a few days to look over the teams, and a few hours to pick keepers and drops.

Especially since this shouldn't really affect anything we've done yet. If he replaces a dropped player with a retired player they probably weren't good enough to steal anyways.

I agree with this.  Wibi should get a little leeway as the new guy.  Wibi, who do you want to drop/undrop?

Fine.  MM asked to be skipped, we've got people online now so in the interests of keeping this moving, I'll go.

The Washington Sentinels steal Matt Slauson, OG, from the SPDougie Chargers.

Our interior OL suckity suck suck sucked.  Two old dudes with negative PFF numbers, and a rookie who never played a down.  Time to upgrade.  Slauson makes us better immediately.  PFF grade of +20.2, including +7.4 in the pass game and +8.7 in the run game.  With two good to great OTs, we now have someone in the interior to work with them.

This is the second player taken from the Chargers.  The rest of their roster is off limits.
