We will be in Madrid the first weekend in September and trying to get tix for the match against Real Betis. The “official” ticket site just says “tickets will be soon up for sale”
https://www.realmadrid.com/en/tickets
There are a bunch of other sites advertising them but not sure what’s legit.

Anyone know the best way to get them?

I attended a Real Madrid match in 2019. After the tickets finally go on sale, you will learn that they will not accept foreign credit cards!. Arghh! So I used stubhub. Season ticket holders have passes that you have to return. It was a little exasperating getting in touch with Stubhub to return the passes as their people in Madrid don't seem to be available on weekends and we had train tickets to Barcelona on Monday afternoon. But the connection was made Monday morning, they apologized and sent a currier to our airBnb to pick up the passes. All's well that end's well. Great experience - recommend. They originally delivered the passes to the airbnb. Stubhub had decent availability and prices via the season pass holders.

It was raining that day. Our seats were in the back of the front half of the second tier, and were dry. I think I paid about $80 each.

Just catching up on the Spanish Football Podcast and they addressed this very question (and perhaps it was even you who submitted it to them). Tickets hit that website on the Monday before the game, either at 9 am or 10 am.
