Rob’s here in town this week for the Visit Knoxville Open. Got a chance to met him today. Great guy! Heads into Sunday in 6th place, four strokes behind the leader. Will be out there tomorrow rooting for him.
Damn, just saw this. Hopefully, you mentioned SoSH when you saw him. He knows about this place, and the following.

Rob jumped from 38th to 30th on the Korn Ferry money list this week.

We're on a direct line to a bubble boy ending to the season.

I did. I told him SOSH is where I learned about him. He had a friend, I believe his name is Tommy, following him and texting updates to somebody. I sent a link to this site to Tommy.

MC for Rob last week after a rough 18th. He isnt in the field this week.

33rd in points this season after 13 tournaments with 365. Top 25 automatically get pga card. 25th now is at 424. There are 23 regular season tournaments. So he needs about 800 points to get top 25.

He can also get into the three tournament playoff with top 75 in points. 75th place now is at 184 points. That projects close to 350 so he may already have enough right now.

Looks like the course is playing a good bit harder today (3-4 strokes harder), but Rob still probably needs to get 68 or below to have a chance. He is off to a slow start at +1 through 4, but thankfully most of the others are spinning their wheels so far as well, so he is in a large tie for 2nd 2 strokes back

Ugh, just a disasterous front 9 from Rob, not down to 8th, 6 shots off the lead

Once again our man Rob will be fighting for what could be his last shot at a tour card. Going into the 3 stop playoffs Rob was ranked 45th missing out on the first 25 guaranteed cards. The first event was this weekend and looked like a birdie fest out there, Rob tied for 50th at 12 under. I have found 1 site that has him at a 13% chance to get into the top 25 of the 3 event playoffs and secure his tour card for what would be the 4th time.

Rob followed up the T50th in the 1st event with a T34th in the 2nd event. He needs to finish top 25 in the 3 events to get a card, but the guys that already have their 25 cards from the regular season that are playing in this, do not count towards the FInals 25 that Rob is trying to make (50 total get in from regular season and Finals).

I cannot seem to find a good breakdown of where he stands in the playoff/Finals with the guys ahead of him that already have cards removed from the list. My best guess is he's in the neighborhood of 35th (maybe slightly better) and probably needs a top 20 or so in the final event to get in, but who the hell knows.

Yeah, the Tour's website sucks. They used to have a full standings for the Finals but they only have the regular season one up now.

On the leaderboard for the 2nd event, they have him at T38 in the standings (nice guess on your part). I would think he needs a top 15ish, but it's hard to know. In the past they've put out a release approximating where each player in the field needs to finish in order to earn a card. Maybe they'll release it tomorrow?

The third playoff event (the Tour Championship) is always interesting, because you'll have guys that already have cards decide to take the week off, and probably particularly so this year with it falling on Labor Day weekend. It really comes down to who is in front of him. If say 15 of the top 20 guys already have cards, he could probably finish top 30 for the week, etc. I guess we all have something else to do this weekend, as the Bubble Boy makes us nervous again.

I found a site that projects odds and they dropped him to a 9.1% chance to move into the top (second) 25. After years of watching Rob, I am sure he will make the cut by 1, have a great Saturday and be sitting around 20th going into Sunday needing a -3/4 to crack the top 18 and secure his card.

Datagolf has nice projections. A couple guys with 160 pts are like 96% or 98% to be in top 25. So I'd guess he needs at least that. Some years you need 180 or 200. With 48 pts a top 15 gets him to 160.

Does anyone know if Rob is injured to start the KFT season? He isn't in the field for the first two events. I believe his top 75 finish on the KFT last year gives him a relatively high priority ranking for the season so he could be just taking advantage and being more selective with his schedule.

Yep, he had shoulder surgery. Took a medical exemption for 2023, so he doesn't lose status and can return in 2024, but he's going to be off the course for a while, so not sure what a return will look like.

Looks like Rob has recovered from his surgery. He tees off at 7:15 this Thursday in the Korn Ferry event here.
Yep, he played in a couple "minor league" tournaments in the past month down in Florida, finished 2nd in one of them at least, losing on the 7th playoff hole. Competition was nothing great for him, but seems like he's healthy enough to swing a club. I'll see his brother this weekend or next and find out if this is a one off, or if he's officially back. I know there was concern about him coming back, and then not playing enough and losing his KF status, and having to go back to Q School, etc.

He finished even par today. Watched him make a birdie on his 14th hole. That’s the par 5 5th hole, since he started on the back. Noticed he took off a cold bottle of water on the 6th tee and held it to his left shoulder.

Will be out there rooting for him tomorrow.

Awesome, if you get his attention, tell him you're a Sons of Sam Horn guy and tell him Greg sent you. He'll know what it means.

Long road back from shoulder surgery. Rob went down to Chile to play in the Korn Ferry event this week. Lo and behold, shot am opening round 64, -8. Tied for the lead going into tomorrow
