Ugh. If I read correctly, he bogeyed 18 to miss cut by one.
Yep, I just recovered enough from drowning my sorrows in vodka last night to post about it. 18th hole, in the fairway on a par 5, needed par to make the cut, and I don't even know what happened from there. He's had a lot of tough luck and bad beats, but I imagine that one hurt quite a bit. I don't even want to reach out to him and his brother yet.

He three putted 18, missing a 35 incher on his par putt. That's brutal and I am very very sorry.

Do you have a video link for that? That’s not what the US Open site says. Sounds like he hit a bad (shot three) approach, leaving it about 30 yards short. Then he went long and two-putted.

Either way it was had to be crushing for him, leaving it 30 yards short from 150 middle of the fairway, is torture

I got it from the US Open leaderboard, which has a shot tracker embedded. Did I read it wrong?

Yeah, he made the 3 footer for bogey. I've literally never seen or heard of Rob hitting a wedge 30 yards offline in any direction, from 130 yards out in the fairway. That's his game. Gutted.

Rob with the near miracle par 3 on 14 after airmailing the green off the tee. Hit a fantastic shot to get to 15 feet, and then drilled the 15 footer with 3-4 feet of break. He is now in 4 way tie for first

Cost himself a lot of qualifying points with those bogeys, though. He was on pace to move into the 25, now he’ll be at #37 unless Summerhays bogey one of these last two.

Pretty sure he broke his own record. That was his home course (parents have been members there forever, before they moved to Andover CC, and then went back to the Ridge) growing up. I'm going to give his brother Kenny so much shit for losing by 20 strokes to his younger brother. The guy that shot 74, Chris, is my son's current baseball coach. He's a great player too.

Rob shot a 77 yesterday to miss the cut by 3 strokes. He’s projected to fall to 48th in the standings with only three weeks left before the Finals, which are only three tournaments this year.

Can you give us a reminder of where he needs to finish?

After 15 holes today, Rob is T4, only three shots out of the lead. With a good round tomorrow, he could erase what was a slog of a year, and secure his PGA Tour card in the last regular season event. A runner-up finish alone will almost certainly do it, 3rd or worse is definitely not enough, and T2 will be very very close. The current #24 and #25 both missed the cut. So on brand for Rob.

Finishes as -6 for the day, and T5. I'll admit I was hoping that after the storm the course was going to play harder for the late finishers, but seems they cleaned up pretty good on the bac 9, and Rob is 4 strokes out of the lead

Rob did what he needed to today. Shot the second best round on the course for the day (tied) and put himself in contention. Definitely needs a minimum T-2 or better. Such a Rob like way of finishing up the regular season.

Rob's got 9 holes left, he needs to throw out a 30 or 31 here to have a real chance

Just misses 8 footer or birdie on 10, just misses, catches edge on 20 footer for Eagle at 11, One shot out of first now, but needs to get 2 or 3 more (otherwise you are just hoping everyone else collapses)

Screamed loud enough to scare the neighbors trying to will that eagle putt in from my couch. If he keeps hitting fairways, he'll give himself a chance. These guys havent faced this pressure like he has.

Not even a little ashamed to say I'm hoping to see everyone around him get a case of the shanks.

Oh god he just can't putt. Misses another 7 foot birdie putt with a chance to temporarily tie for the lead, although a couple are about to go to -19

Tee to green he is probably playing the best golf on the course right now (well at least as good as anyone), but iman 4 straight holes he left a stroke on the coarse with the putter

Needs to find a way to finish 4 under on his final 4 holes to have a chance now

This is brutal to watch. I can’t imagine the pressure to hit this 6 footer.
