Between here and everywhere.
He's having a down year, but he's been pretty consistent throughout his career to date otherwise.

I'm going to pair with him Necas (which is where he's playing this year in Carolina and started to see some success before the season ended) and hope he can figure it out.

This guy has had an off year after being traded in the off season. No fines and no suspensions during the season is not what we've come to expect from him. We'll assume that the season being cut back by Covid just denied him a chance to face the wheel of justice and he'll get back to his "gritty" ways. The Cup Checks select Radko Gudas, D

My team is quickly becoming filled with post-hype sleepers. That will either lead to 100 cups or total failure. Who knows. I'm taking a 4th line center with some serious upside. Last year he put up 37 points as an 18 year old and put up insanely good advanced stats for his age (though sheltered as only a Julien could do). He's big, skates well, is defensively conscientious. So why is he available? Well...the wheels really came off this year. He struggled mightily and got sent back to Laval but did so with a good attitude and put up a PPG before hitting the IR with an enlarged spleen. His coach had said he had turned a corner before the injury. This is a win/win - either I get a great player for a 15th round price, or the Habs blew a 3rd overall pick. I think its probably the former.

Another upside pick who can play a role on the fourth line even if hes not quite what he has been in the past. He should be back in playing shape in about 2 months after a shoulder injury that ruined his whole season. He can skate, he can hit, he used to be able to score. If he returns to last year's form he could play RW on any of these lines. If not, he's a possession driving forechecker on the fourth line. He can play ES in a defensive posture, he can PK and he can play the power play....when he's right which he isn't now. Here's hoping.

My team is badly in need of someone who can defend and provide leadership. This guy can do both of those things and has a sweet mullet. Hoping this year is an aberration and he's not past his prime at 30. Chris Tanev, D, VAN.

Some people may say we've been going to the Yaroslavl well too often. I searched for this players name 4 times because I was surprised he was still available. Guy was just traded for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick and is still available. Hope someone doesn't burst my bubble by saying he as taken. He fits well on a team that is going to require a guy strong on the dot in the DZone and ready to kill the many, many PK's my team will have. Breaking out with a career year as he enters his prime, he also adds some scoring punch. This pushes Frederic to the 4th line and solidifies the 3rd line. How is this kid still available?

23 year old LW from the New York Islanders. 39 points in 68 games. Would have been a 20/30 guy in a full season this year (maybe).

Anthony Beauvillier, LW, NYI

He and Rob Thomas are going to make a pretty elite 4th line, so far. I'm also way under the cap needing only 3 spots left to fill, so I can take on some bigger contracts for veteran depth to round out my team and not sacrifice the future of my team cap wise.

Gotta start building the 3rd pair Defense, and we're going to start with someone who can play a lot of minutes, and whose coaches trust him in the defensive zone, with a dZS% over 55% for each of the last 2 seasons, even though, to be honest, I know almost nothing about him other than that.

Some of you guys have completely overlooked defensive play and board work. Well not us. We start our fourth line with a grinder who checks well, takes the body, kills penalties, helps control possession and can chip in 25-30 points a season. Plus at 30 he adds a veteran presence.

When it comes to a fourth line center, I wanted someone who was used to starting in his own zone, won the majority of their faceoffs, could contribute on the PK, and who could finish on their own in the offensive zone because they probably wouldn't be playing with the greatest playmakers in the world. So, Nick Bonino C was about as perfect a fit as I could hope for. In his three years with Nashville, he's started 65% of his shifts in the defensive zone and yet his team has scored almost 1.5 goals for every goal allowed. He wins the bulk of his faceoffs, plays a ton of PK minutes, and he even pots 15% of his shots. Not bad for a 4th liner!

While there were a few candidates I considered for my final defenseman spot, this guy was my #2 target behind Brodin. In looking for a partner with Hronek, I wanted a defensive defenseman who played a heavy game, controlled and created space, and was used to playing heavy D-zone minutes including lots of PK time. Brayden McNabb, D, is a perfect fit. Perhaps the best hip checker in the NHL today, McNabb is a tough, physical defenseman who has consistently been asked to play against opposing team's #1 line, and has consistently helped shut them down. He's good on his stick and disrupts passing lanes, and uses his 6'4 212 lb frame to physically control his half of the ice. While McNabb doesn't have the skating and puck moving skills of the rest of the Penny Pincher defense core, he provides a lockdown element better than anyone but Schmidt, with whom he'll probably be paired situationally (i.e. close and late draws in the D-zone against the opponent's top line). Just as he has done with Schmidt in Vegas, McNabb will give Hronek room to operate, and he'll allow Hronek to simplify some of his defensive responsibilities in his own end, without getting in the way of Hronek's development as a primary muck mover and transition iniator from the back end. Plus, his contract is a peach at $2.5 million for the next two seasons.

I think we found quite the diamond in the rough in this round. A 22 year old center who is already defensively responsible and kills penalties. Despite having 57% D zone draws this season he put up 28 ES points in just 63 games. He's a huge get for our fourth line with the potential to work up the lineup in due course. He's on the last year of he's ELC so thankfully we have plenty of dry powder to deal with his upcoming raise.

Luke Kunin, C

Kyle Connor (23) - Leon Draisaitl (24) - Brock Boeser (23)
