I checked three times, hopefully I didn't miss something and either of these guys are already taken. If they are I have backup plans.

Rounding out my top four defense unit with:

Erik Johnson, D

In net:

Braden Holtby, G

Filling out our top six with a player who has some positional versatility (he's a winger but is a Center by pedigree). He is a former 2nd overall pick who has widely been seen as a bust but has really come into his own these last few years riding shotgun with Eichel. He's a skilled player who is very effective on the power play and in the O-zone. Since he moved to the right wing three years ago, he is 14th in points in the NHL, making him a dangerous 2nd line RW. We expect 25 goals and 60 points out of him.

RW - Sam Reinhart - Buffalo Sabres

Fiala (3.0)-Barkov (5.9)-Meier (6.0)
Kreider (4.6)-Larkin (6.1)-Reinhart (3.65)

Hedman (7.87) - Spurgeon ($7.57)
Reilly (5.0)-xxx

Carter Hart (.730)

Cap number - $50.42
remaining space - 30.58
Roster spots remaining - 10

I am also filling out my top 6 with this pick. I need some toughness combined(71 hits) with skill and am thinking this All-Star player fills the need. He fits also with the growth of this roster only being 24 years old. I select Tyler Bertuzzi, LW, Detroit.

Between here and everywhere.
ESA BIRD? No.

ESA PLANE?

NO!

ESA LINDELL?? YES!

From Dallas!

Yes! The defensemen who has played the most shut down minutes while his team has been shorthanded. He's also a top 25 D in minutes, while taking more than 55% of his starts in the defensive zone.

Still young at only 25 years old, he's rounding out (what I feel) is the best young D in this fantasy draft. He's won't do a ton on offense, but that's not really what this team needs at this point. We've got enough O, time to solidiy the D.

Alex Debrincat (22) / Elias Pettersson (21) / Mitch Marner (22)
Max Domi (25) / Charlie Coyle (28) /

Brandon Carlo (23) / Thomas Chabot (23)
Hampus Lindholm (26) / Esa Lindell (25)

Igor Shesterkin (24)

Like most of my picks, this guy probably isn't a great one, but I have a soft spot for the guy, because I used to watch him play in the minors and the eye test back then told me he was a good, hard skater with speed, and he has a nice shot to go with it. He was also an epic shit stirrer back then, which is something my team is currently lacking.

Checks first page of thread. Checks again. Checks last couple of pages of thread. Checks again. Wait no one took this guy? I was debating whether to fill out second line, start third line or fill out second pair. But you guys made the decision easy for me. Continuing the buildup of the best young D corps in our league, we're adding a fine shutdown right defenseman who can also chip in 25-30 even strength points. And we love the contract (4 more years at $4.025).

Sorry Nap, Dummy Hoy picked him in the third round.
Yeah - it's not like one person is continually updating the first post to avoid this situation. I even spelled it right too.

I'm taking a guy who was hurt this year, but put up 40 goals last year and slots right in on my RW2 and my middle age line. CAM ATKINSON, RW, COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS.

Tanner Pearson, VAN

He played for 3 teams 1 year, someone's bound to hate him. Plus Tanner is an adjective not a name.

I was between this guy and Atkinson with this pick, and TFP made it easy on me. A grossly underrated playmaker and goal scorer because he plays for a shitty team in a shitty market, he's put up at least 25 goals in three straight seasons, and is a deadly PP weapon. The possession metrics love him as well, showing his teams playing much better on both ends of the ice whenever this guy is out there. While he's a FA after the season, he shouldn't command too much of a premium contract, and he'll slot in really nicely alongside Nate MacKinnon while adding a bit of a veteran presence to what is otherwise a very young team. Jeremy Jacobs' Penny Pinchers selected Evgenii "Daddy" Dadonov, LW.

Well shit. Was getting ready to pick either Dadanov or Atkinson (Go BC!).

With one Eagle off the board, another one must rise up. And with that, I am taking Kevin Hayes, C. He's had an up and down year in his first year in Philly, but playing in Philly will do that to anyone. He's a big body who is decent at the dot and can play up and down the lineup and on the PP and PK, so I can see him swapping in and out with Danault as the 2C. Still only 27 so should be coming into his prime. Like Klingberg, I'm banking on a return to form for Hayes to help solidify my team down the middle.

I can't believe this guy is still on the board!! </sarcasm> He was an Olympian!! A 50 goal scorer in the past 5 years combined.
Ok, he has been bad, but pickins are slim when you can only pick guys from the tub... Plus veteran presence or something.

Ok, I searched and don't think my wrap-around choices have been selected alread.

MikeMikeMike! chooses:

Michael Rasmussen - RW (sometimes center). Youth, size, some scoring ability (That hasn't quite developed in the NHL yet).
Mike Reilly - D. Stay at home guy, seems like a decent minutes-eater. Not a lot of scoring.

Mike Hoffman - Mika Zibanejad - Mikael Granlund

@TFP looks like the selection roster is off one person. It has Kenney taking Callahan, and Hayes to Scoops... that is as far back as I went, though.

Guy has speed, does a great job at creating chances and can kinda score. Could be interesting to put him up top with McDavid and have them fly around the rink together. Still only 28, so has a few good years left in his tires.

I was split between two guys here, and ultimately chose the one that fit the Penny Pincher's ethos of well...penny pinching...a bit more. Another big, young mobile defenseman, this guy gives the Penny Pinchers a quartet of rapidly improving young defenseman who can help drive the team's transition game. Paired with Filip Hronek, this D-man amplifies that second pairing's real physical and shot blocking edge, while also being able to make some plays himself. Jeremy Jacob's Penny Pinchers select Marcus Pettersson, D.

I can understand why this guy slipped as he is having an off year by his standards most certainly due to the back injury caused by a Bortuzzo cheap shot. But he's only 27 and a proven 30 goal scorer and should bounce back once fully healthy. And a sweet contract as well (4 more years at $4.25M).

Guess I'll fill out my 2nd line.

The Kings didn't want him. And he's a Canuck. So not wanted and automatically hated. And Cat Belanger can fight with Lindsey Vonn.

Top-pairing guy who can slide in on d-pair 2, and plays all special teams.

The PSKs select D Darnell Nurse

Svechnikov - Seguin - Kucherov
----------------- - Cirelli - Smith
----------------- - Nelson - --------------

Josi - Ellis
Ekholm - Nurse

Cap picture:
Seguin ($9.85m)
Kucherov ($9.5m)
Ellis ($6.25m)
Nelson ($6.0m)
Smith ($5.0m)
Josi ($4.0m this year, then $9.059m)
Ekholm ($3.75m)
Nurse ($3.2m this year, then $5.6m)
Svechnikov ($0.925m)
Cirelli ($0.728m)

Total cap hit: $49.2m this year, growing to at least $56.7m. Looks like some tougher choices on the road to $81.5m
