Moved from running back to defensive back in August of 2009. Wanted to play on defense. Management major.

Safety Specific Traits

Instincts/Recognition: 2 - Instincts in zone are a notch below elite. Reads quarterback and routes. Rarely gets caught out of position. Splits high-low route combinations. Adequate route recognition and can get early break on ball. Above average timing when blitzes.

Cover Skills: 4 - Enough range to cover deep half. Adequate transition and closing speed out of pedal. Tweener that's more effective dropping into zone than matching up in man. Good upper body strength (19 bench press reps at Combine). Adequate job of getting off blocks when lines up at corner.

Jemea Thomas | CBGeorgia TechThomas is a versatile competitor with experience at safety, corner and nickel, and who plays much bigger than his size. There will be durability concerns when considering his violet style, but a good value here for the Patriots who have a few options with where they can put him.

Is this a typo? 33 sacks? Above it says his career high for a game is 1 sack, done five times.
Reiss' piece on Zach Moore:

"He holds the Concordia record for sacks (33) and forced fumbles (6) and his long reach produced three blocked field goals."

Looks to me that's where the number came from. Someone grabbed the wrong prospect sheet.

So after all the talk about strong safeties (by me as much as anyone) they draft a center fielder type S/CB hybrid.

Oops.

He's known as a big hitter and excels as a run defender, he may be small and a hybrid, but I don't think I'd say he's only a CF type, if anything scouts seem to say he's better in the box than in deep coverage.

Problem with that role is it needs to be able to pick up TEs and slot receivers when there's no run to defend against, and his height is severely sub-optimal for that.  Love the guy, but "plays bigger than his size" is going to have to stretch real real far for him in the box.

Is this the best photo ever? Jemea might be returning an interception but it's going to take a lot more than that to impress Deon Hill in 31.

Unnattractive redhead watergirl's all over it though.

I just noticed a coach is about to stick his finger right into Unimpressed Deon Hill's ear.
