Just for fun, I think I will also contribute $1 for ever inning James Paxton pitches this season. Anyone have change for a $20?

I am obviously not someone who posts here basically at all but I do read almost everything the rest of you type. I too was incredibly frustrated with the tenor of so many of the posts this offseason, from what I'll call the vocal pessimists.

That being said, I will match the total donation LogansDad makes to the Jimmy Fund at the end of the season.

Go Sox!

Three days left!!
Honestly I wasn’t even going to engage or be super negative about the team but l I’m just sick of all the PollyAnnas here calling out anyone who doesn’t think this team is the bestest and greatest and Chaim is the coolest thing since sliced bread. You want someone else to take a bet I’m your huckleberry.

Updated, thanks!!

My kids think I'm a curmudgeon, so I will gladly wear the Pollyanna hat.

Though I certainly don't think Bloom (or this team) are perfect, the incessant negativity in here from November until February ruined my winter, but maybe I'm just the guy whining about people who hate Nickleback now.

One more slot!

And with Kiké's home run today, we have already made $25 for the Jimmy Fund, thanks to DDB.

You all have until tomorrow to fill the final slot of the main event.

I was just coming on here to ring the bell for a second Kike HR, but then I realised it's pay by the month, not the HR - until he hits his 11th. But very positive offensive progress by most everone in the lineup thus far...

I’m not sure which side needs someone to fill the last slot, but count me in for the charity aspect. I’m sanguine about the team’s chances, but will put my money wherever it’s needed to balance out the ledger.

You get the under against pk1627, thanks for volunteering!

Minimum of $875 raised, plus a potential for $175 more if Kiké hits a HR each month and gets to 11 on the season, plus $1 for every inning from Paxtion.

Nice job, folks!

I know everybody has their own favorites amongst charities they either actively participate in, raise money for, or support through contributions, but is there a way this could be extended throughout the season through side bets? There must be more that our collective fandom can do than $1,000* - still a very good outcome, but there would be individuals amongst us who give more than that every year to their favorite alma mater for example.

*That counts Kike coming through in 4 out of 6 months. Not counting a cent for Paxton - believe it when I see it.

For sure, keep using it, but the opening wager is closed.

I will try to keep it updated as I can if others add stuff throughout the season.

Whitlock went 7 IP with 1 run allowed on Sunday, Crawford had a quality "start" in relief yesterday, and Sale tonight. Quality starts everywhere!

Ever hear of a "straw man" argument. It's when you purposely misrepresent another person's argument, and it's a debate faux pas. And, yeah, it's what you just did. You may want to refrain from such sophomoric behavior in the future.

To be fair, he did not “what he just did”, the post was three weeks ago. And that’s not really a Straw Man argument. We get plenty of those on the site.

Ok, it's an old post. I don't go on here very often. But the poster accused the positive posters of thinking that Bloom was the best thing that ever happened to them. That is a straw man.

I was being hyperbolic. I’ve been a member here for over 20 years and this off-season was one of the worst ever. The board was a dumpster fire. All the Polly Positives wanted to lay all the blame at the feet of the negative folks when there was plenty of blame to go around.

There were hundreds of posts this year full of condescension towards people who dared to criticize the team claiming they were entitled, dumb, and not true fans. Fan purity tests are ridiculous.

And my post was putting my money where my mouth was - have you? So respectfully why don’t you just mosey on back to the sandbox with the other lurkers and mind your business.

Alex Cora hates the Jimmy Fund.
5 innings 1 run while battling a virus.. I'll take that as a quality start even though it might not technically be a quality start. Maybe the guy bettering against Sale might count it but it's not my money. It sure beats some of Sale's early season stats particularly against the Os.
I should mention that I am currently at Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven, CT. I had a 7 inch by 7 inch spindle cell neoplasm tumor removed from my back on Thursday. So I have a somewhat vested interest in this.

This is why I make bets that benefit cancer research. Just an excuse to help the most amazing people there are.

Paxton up to 19 innings. He’s gonna make me eat my “change for a $20” remark in early June. Can’t say I’m disappointed thus far…
