Something very interesting to start the season off in Arizona. Bumgarner through 5.

Man the SF Giants just can't find a closer. Melancon with the horrible first appearance.

That is what happens when your offense only gets one run and then zero runs with bases loaded one out.

There have been combined no-hitters by four pitchers and by six pitchers, but I see none by five pitchers. That may change in Miami today.

[edit: Never mind, old friend Brad Ziegler allows a couple two-out singles]

Chen in Seattle.

In the 7th with 2 outs and 2 men on base. 97 pitches and a 3-2 count...

Edit to add: popped out, he's at 100 pitches.

They just showed him in the dugout, putting on a jacket, Mattingly shaking hands with him and a teammate hugging him. He's out. Smart move by Mattingly methinks.
Didn't catch the name of the rileiver but they're through 8.

Edit: broken with a double with one out in the 9th

Wow, that was amazingly bad coverage, they didn't show the throw to first on the bounced strike three. Anyway, congrats Edinson...

A no-no with less than a hundred pitches. Ending it with style

Good for Eddie and Miami after all they've been through
He just dedicated the game to Jose Fernandez and Yordano Ventura (whose birthday evidently would have been today).

Hoping it was water. I don't get the dousing with the colored juices on a uniform that the guy is gonna wanna keep or the HOF might want.
Good point, Washing it before it goes to the Hall or whatever kind of diminishes it.
