Just saw this, so I’m late, but apparently Anthony Rendon hit a homer off Brett Phillips left-handed and he’s not a switch-hitter. That is embarrassing.

Bednar is simply nasty for the Pirates. Never a chance for the Reds to save Greene.

What a bizarre game.

Bad Pitcher Management 101:

If a guy is over 100 pitches after 7 innings of a no-hitter, DON'T SEND HIM BACK OUT WHEN YOU NEED 6 MORE OUTS!

I would say it's a firing-worthy move but... it's the Reds and they will probably have a manager search in the off-season.

Poor Greene. The one day he has everything working, his team and manager fuck him without lube.

Good ol' MLB technicalities ... not a no-hitter

This was the sixth time in big league history since 1901 that a team has won despite not getting any hits. It last happened in 2008 when Jered Weaver and Jose Arredondo of the Angels lost while holding the Dodgers hitless.

And the third since 1900 (and fourth overall) where a pitcher was credited with a complete game in a 9-inning game, gave up no hits, and still wasn't credited with a no-hitter. There was Matt Young in 1992, Andy Hawkins in 1990, and the immortal Silver King in 1890....and now Mr. Greene.

I'm pretty sure you don't get credit for a complete game when a reliever records the last 2 outs.

It's still a scoreless game. It would be awesome if they managed to go 10 innings and lose a perfect game 1-0 due to the Manfred Man scoring.
