The Indians have needed to call up 5 starting pitchers from the minors this year, 2 of them started the season in AA. Meanwhile, they thought so much of Asher Wojciechowski that he remained on their AAA team until they sold him to Baltimore.

Aaron Sanchez, who has an ERA+ of 74 heading into this game is through six without allowing a hit in his Astros debut.

Sanchez is the first pitcher to be part of a no-hitter in his debut with a team since Hideo Nomo tossed a no-no in his first start for the Red Sox in 2001

I simply can't wait for the Astros/Yankees ALCS.

It should be epic.

Both teams will go into the playoffs fully rested and prepped as neither will have any meaningful games in September.

Hudson through 6, 0 h, 3Bb for st. Louis vs MIL
He's at 98 pitches through 6.1 IP....gonna be a combined one if it happens.

The Cards announcer was just talking about the SS playing good defense and referenced his fielding percentage and amount of DPs turned.

They're like dating Rex Ryan (plenty of reaching first base going on where they walk).

I’m strangley at this Verlander game. He had a wild first inning but it was clear in the second he figured something out and got locked in.

Through 8 at 106 pitches, he has faced just 25 batters.
When's the last time someone pitched into the 10th?

(I'll just go ahead and assume that he's only pitching one more inning, regardless of what happens)

I remember thinking Verlander was done a few years ago. he certainly found some second gear to take his career to HOF lock status.
