Some folks from the hoops fantasy league report having problems logging into SOSH.
They say they are not getting the confirmation code email and thus are locked out of the site.

Yes, I was not receiving the emails for with the confirmation codes for the two-step verification process. I stopped getting them after the new year. I think Mandro Ramirez is having the same problem.

I am having the same problem. Got a new laptop and can't login. Reset password, get message email has been sent, but never received email to my gmail account. Looked in spam/junk folders. Luckily, I am logged in through my phone.

Got an email from @Bleedred, who's having the same problem:

"I'm Eric (aka Bleedred) from Sons of Sam Horn. I have been blocked out of the site since yesterday when I made a profile change update to correct my email address. After making the change the site provided this message:

"Your account is currently awaiting confirmation. Confirmation was sent to my email address.
The confirmation email was never sent. I clicked on "Resend confirmation email" 3 times, but no email I even made a new account under the name of Bleedred2 with a different email address, but the same thing. I've checked the "junk" and "spam" folders to no avail.

Would you mind copying this email and sending it to a Dope, or posting this in a thread in "Blind Leading the Stupid" or wherever else you think best and ask a Dope to email me here? I'd even take a phone call or text on my cell.

SOSH has become my primary and secondary source of news, as well as all of the entertainment, insight and other helpful things it is. Feeling the loss of membership!"

It looks like people have been subscribing to threads that have caused thousands of emails to go out.... very frequently. Our e-mail relay disabled us. I switched it to use my .com e-mail address. I'm going to also disable subscribing to threads that alert over e-mail. It's 2021, nobody needs that anymore anyways.

Does that also disable the PM emails. We used to get slammed in big group PMs.

Yeah, it includes everything, though the subscriptions to threads were the worst. Who needs to get emailed on every post of a 2000 post thread? They must have been mistakes.

Is his email address on record correct? PM me.

EDIT: I flipped his email address to validated, so if that was the problem then he should be able to get on now.
I'm on now! Thank you very much. I had no idea how much I came to rely on SOSH for entertainment but also insight and access to critical information. Huge thanks to RIP for being my proxy!

Yesterday I noticed I was logged off from SoSH on my desktop. This itself is weird since I hadn’t logged myself off at any point. I tried to log in and received an incorrect password message, though I am definitely using the correct password. I’ve clicked reset password 4 or 5 times since yesterday, and no reset link has shown up in my email. As of now I can’t log on on my desktop computer. My login still works fine on my iPhone. I’ve switched browsers and restarted several times. No luck. Any ideas?

It's a cert issue. It looks like it auto updated (as it should) but there was some issue with it that I'll have to look into

If anyone has experience with certs on Ubuntu please shoot me a message. The issue today was trying to move the site from PHP 7.2 to 7.4 a few days ago, I think. Looking through the logs now that was the issue, though I'm not quite certain why it took 24 hours to start crabbing about it. It was going haywire over a cert missing (though it's there under 7.2 and I assumed it was independent of php)

What CA are you using, and how are you issuing certs?

If you're using Let’s Encrypt, they deprecated v1 of their API at the end of June, so automated cert renewals have started failing. You have to migrate to using the v2 servers for older certs.

And if you're using acme.sh, they just switched their default CA away from Let's Encrypt, compounding the issue: you have to add "--server letsencrypt" to the usual command-line when issuing new certs now, or register an email address with ZeroSSL (the new default CA).
