If they didn't have Coleman I'd be clamoring for Roberto to sign Clyne. Also, they were linked with Tadic who can play the middle. Solid result for Liverpool and Southampton at least looked okay, if not as good as they were last year.

Meh. They have a lot of talent left compared to other lower table sides. Is there a zero percent chance they get relegated? Of course not. Has their disarray been exaggerated? Definitely.
Of course, but my point is that was equally true before today's game as after.

And I don't know how much Jovetic will play all season but he's an incredibly creative mad gifted player, may really break out this season

Any clue which of Jovetic and Dzeko will keep their place when Aguero comes back?

I think Dzeko. Jovetic and Aguero are one rotation, Dzeko and Negredo the other.

And Newcastles midfield is going to tire quickly if they continue to have to chase the ball like this

Edit: Gouffran playing very well thus far. Putting in a shift and pressing well

California. Duh.
Here's a score from the world of Scottish Women's football: Falkirk Ladies 0-22 Rangers Ladies. Not sure which of the 6 players that scored a hat trick ended up with the match ball.

It's too bad because Southampton has played some quality football today.
Fuck em.

OK, this is the all-games thread, so if you're a Southampton fan, my apologies. I don't think LFC fans are quite over all the "earned" draws and wins that turned into losses and draws before last season. Even last season, Liverpool was pounding opponents, so they rarely got points they didn't earn. Southampton could have expected a draw today on the balance of their performance, but...fuck em anyway. I hope they plenty of points this year in their other 36 matches, though.

Except for the Man City game, every game was a draw or a one goal game. Tight matches.

I except Chelsea may also get a 2+ goal win today however.

I've been planning to follow the Premier League this year and though I was too busy to see any games this weekend, I did actively follow them over the course of the weekend

I don't have a club yet, but I did take pleasure at seeing Manchester United lose, so I think I'm doing it right.

The Burnley story has me tingly.

Didn't spend this off-season; instead re-invested in stadium, facilities, youth coaching and salary increases for existing personnel.

Stuck with a club that was predicted (by some) to be relegated last season; a club that is reportedly defined by cohesive, smart football heavy on teamwork, work rate and determination.

The manager talked frankly about their chances and how they are still going to play "pressing, positive" football despite the "obvious talent" gulf because "we play our game and they'll need to deal with us, too". OOOHHHHH, that's some good underdog shit right there!

Danny Ings is young, talented and supposedly fun to watch. Hoping he skins John Terry alive is why we watch these games, no?

Goliath strides in. Burnley ain't backing down.

Costa cleans up the rebound...and Turf Moor goes NUTS (with boos).

"Another inch higher, and while painful, that shot would have been blocked". - commentator describing the five-hole goal

The final will be 2-23

I think I said this the last time Burnley were up, but Turf Moor sounds like a place where a group of villains are garrisoned in a sci-fi story.

Turf Moor's camera setup gives this an FA Cup third round feel.

It reminds me of old TV coverage, like the stuff you get in Eric Cantona or Gary Lineker highlight reels. Except in HD.

Excellent haha.

Thought Burnley's goal was pretty but Chelsea's looked like slow torture for Burnley. It looked like 3 players were a bit too slow to corral the initial cross that ended up off the post.

Holy shit that was impressive though.

Nicholas Cage will lead the breakout,

Or Andre Schurrle, apparently.

Hazard's run, Ivanovic's half-cross, Fabregas' touch and Schurrle's finish...gorgeous.
